Demonland Meets the Cup

Nice, need to get my hands on this bad boy this weekend.

Is there someone there to help take a photo ? @Demonland

At the sports Museum? I wasn't sure if we'd get to have a pic holding it or it would be on display only

You are allowed to touch but not lift.

I went with 3 other family members and the staff took a photo of us individually and then a group photo. We needed to sanitise our hands before. Mask wearing is compulsory in the museum but you can take it off for the photo.

What a coincidence.

That is exactly the rule I apply to anyone wanting to handle me!

Under the red and blue eyes… yep, tears.

Well done for not censoring your face! (unless of course it's someone else!)

Any tips for those of us going on the weekend? I assume there was a lot of queuing involved.

Very happy with the purchase. Haven't worn a guernsey to the footy in a long time but will be a permanent fixture in 2022.

When did it arrive Andy?still waiting for my purchase to arrive for my son. Cheers

Is there a booby trap that goes off if you lift it, Indiana Jones style? You just need something of even weight to replace it with.

Get there early or walk around the museum first to avoid a one hour queue

No touchy for me. I’m not worthy.

My unexpected thought seeing it in person is it’s bigger than I thought. It is a damn big trophy. A6B25200-6FCF-4555-A62D-63EC60D812AE.thumb.jpeg.0b5e58b98ef390a33b19b1015dbcdec1.jpegEB587CAB-00AB-4B80-B4B5-C7335060A8C3.thumb.jpeg.b1c0600e6365afaa359a90fec315e200.jpegCED576A6-1BE9-4DDE-A051-52989C73E823.thumb.jpeg.4619a90c6a5a29c4744ad1e73deb3db3.jpeg

Held the cup. Football thrill of a lifetime. Now it is starting to become real.

Thanks dees.

My other thought was - it's more scratched than I though it would be - although it has travelled half the country over the course of 2 months and been in the possession of and/or manhandled by a bunch of raving lunatics 99% of that time (present company not excluded lol).

And my parting words to the cup: "Welp…see ya next year." That got a bit of a laugh from the group next in line, one of whom said "We don't want to become that kind of supporter." I think I sensed a bit of lingering MFCSS in his tone, as if I had just reignited some kind of…curse?

I then viewed the 1957 and 1959 cups (beautiful), then paid my respects at Jim Stynes (still scarf-wearing) statue before heading home.

I noticed that too. It was scratched and scuffed and looked badly in need of a polish. It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.

Get there early. We went at 5:30 today.  The staff said if we had been 15 minutes earlier there wasn't a queue.  Still we only had 5-10 people in front of us.  Queue much longer after that point in time.  Museum is pretty cool actually.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
