Yeah, the same virus the bulldogs had in the last half of the grand final................. The Demon Variant.

As a Geelong resident I am yet to meet a local cats supporter who welcomes Scott's re appointment.

But I dont hear steven wells copping it for woeful recruiting and list management over the past 6 or so years. Resting on his laurels from the excellent list build of 16 years ago.

I suspect the cats hierarchy see change is needed and moved him sideways and installed andrew mackie now in the key role.

Name anything better than beating them at the Cattery after the siren 😀

I agree with you certainly over the past few years but I still have my favourites. The "filth" and the "druggies" in no particular order. Horethorn closing in quickly.

They are now saying that the PF flogging was all to do with a virus that swept through 6 of their players.  IIRC we were struck down with Flu the weekend of 186 but it was never used as an excuse.

Well they have to come up with some excuse for their members to swallow for their PATHETIC performance

It just makes me laugh at the bs coming out.

Wonder what bs they will come out with next season when we beat them again on their home turf.

They are a bunch of entitled sooks and it starts with the coach, captain and players.

God I hate geelong.

Beating the living suitcase out of them in the Prelim 😁

The belting we give them in 2022 followed by Scott getting the sack.

Aren’t they dutybound under OHS rules  to notify AFL medicos and MFC medicos they are sending potentially sick players out there.
They only had a minor final - we had a Grand Final to play.
What if Trac and Fritter got infected with cat flu?

You would know if they had -- they'd immediately look 20 years older

Simple. Beating the filth by a point after the siren in a grand final.

I struggle with this.

I'm never sure whether  (1) I want to crush Collingwood from the opening bounce, or, (2) just remain a goal or so ahead of them for the whole game just to keep their hopes alive only to have them crushed at the end, or, (3) be something like 7 goals down at three-quarter time only to overpower them at the end.

Hmmmmm .... let's try out all three and see which sits best. Might have to do each one two or three times to be sure.

Smashing them as we did in the prelim must go close.

Sorry I just read the other post that mentions this.

Cant delete so I'll just add the cats have had it over us for a long time and it's great we have totally turned it around in only one season.

Edited by leave it to deever

Return the favor and beat them by 186 would be sweet

Already returned.

83 with the last ten mins with May, Lever, Oliver, Petracca, and Gawn on the bench.

That’s humiliation. We kicked them over the cliff.

Well I mean the older age are more prone to getting sick, and their all due for their superannuation in the next couple of years!

jeelong might be the first afl club where players retire and go straight to an aged care home

You guys are all too hard on the cats. They are just super unlucky. WA had only 1 flu case in the entire 8 week period leading up to the prelim, and despite being in isolation they managed to pick it up and have it run through their entire team.  You wouldn’t read about it.

https://ww2.health.wa.gov.au/~/media/Corp/Documents/Health-for/Infectious-disease/Notifiable-diseases/2021/Week-38-statewide-notifiable-disease-report.pdf

Or maybe they heard about the 1 case of leprosy in WA for that period and thought it was one of our players, as they didn’t seem keen to lay a finger on us.

I'd prefer to get them by 187

I've thought for a while Wells was overrated - made his name off one or two drafts (1999? and 2001) and some very lucky father son picks. His record outside that was very hit and miss.

191 to put that horrific record to bed

Nah - just belt them. No excuses, no blaming the umpires, no flicker of hope.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
