Post doesn't have enough Angus Brayshaw - without his 3rd quarter there is no flag.

You are not wrong. I apologize for forgetting him. He was spectacular in that third quarter.

How good is Grundy going to be for us. An upgrade on Jackson, in the short to medium term at least, I reckon

Will be fantastic if he is fully fit and ready to go

Our dream has to be us winning the flag in 23, while Freo has a rogue season finishing  last or near the bottom.

Not holding my breath.

Max Gawn wouldn’t agree with you there Daz, and you are a very astute Footy observer

It's not just what we do it's what we stop the opposition doing and rightly " the team at the bounce " all get due credit in that best 17 minutes of rolled gold Demon magic footy " we will never forget.

Someone mentioned Gus  in the third Qr and I had the great pleasure of him playing on my seating location wing  at deep in ground level at Optus that day. Yes he was pivotal but his form  in 2022 at half back was just as good but I just have the impression he has more team impact from the wing than half back as far as our forward line goes.

I believe we should be maniac about getting Salem Bowey Hunter even Lingers and any good disposer JJ as long as he moves the ball quicker to our forwards in the team to make us a better link up with the "newish forward  line " hopefully with Petty JVR a fit Tmac and fitter BBB plus the smalls and Fritta whatever mix is selected. This is vital in our improvement.

Happily take the first of those but would love to see the Freoflogs sink like a big anchor

I dream of Freo having a Melbourne 2019 type season. That would be fun to watch

It's not out of the realm of possibility.

In - Jackson, O'Meara Out - Lobb, Mundy, Acres, Logue and Tucker is a net loss in terms of their list for next year. Unless Jackson takes a massive quantum leap from 2022 to 2023 and become a super star.

However I would expect them to finish 5th-8th and make it as far as semi final weekend if they have a good run with injury.

I think its very possible they regress and won't be surprised if they miss finals.

Many trying to rewrite history

Fritta kicks one because Viney refuses an easy clearance to the Dogs who get first hand on the footy but it’s not clean and it spills to Harmes who kicks perfectly to space

Frittas second comes from clearance involving Oliver and Trac out the front, players fly Gawny going back actually gets a hand on it preventing a spoil and it goes over the back Fritta great reaction

Brown’s goal -Martin jumps early looking to body Jackson and is not worried about the footy, Jackson stops as he’s about to jump off his foot pads the ball to Trac who spins and kicks to space for Brown to mark in front

Gus’s goal - for me he was our most influential player for the 3rd  quarter

Tracs goal- class but don’t underestimate Kossie’s block on Dunkley which prevents pressure on Trac

Sparrow- again think it was English looks for body and goes early to negate the ruckman with the bigger leap, Jackson goes to ground and taps the ground ball to Viney and we break away

Clarrie - tell me you don’t see the special traits and potential Jackson has in this goal, think it was Viney who gets a boot to it but Jackson’s ground ball pick up for a player his size was exceptional, that doesn’t happen with any of the other 3 rucks on the ground and outside of Natanui it doesn’t happen with any other ruckman in the comp

Im not saying Jackson turned the game, the midfield group and the Dogs refusal to just go in level and play a stopper at the back of CBD’s all led to that mad minute.

I never felt dead and buried, we’d seen it throughout the season the team responded when challenged. After Bont put them 19 points up I turned to my oldest boy and said we just need a goal, we’re not playing bad we just need to convert from our forward entries. 1 minute later I said wow, wasn’t expecting such a quick turnaround when we were level.

There we’re points throughout that 3rd quarter where May and lever stood up, Tmac came into it a bit leading up the ground to assist with transition, Brown did the same. Really thought Gus was important as that defensive wingman and was the player who gave us the lead.

Your view point to think Jackson did nothing and base it on stats is poor, he was important but wasn’t alone.

The kid can play, hope he does well because he’s a nice kid and I like to see people do well. It’s footy and how he plays no longer effects me except when we play Freo. To many are tainting their opinion on him based on him deciding to leave

Can we change the thread title to ‘Fare just ok Luke Jackson’?

Or we can just lock this thread and move on instead of getting every little update on whatever he is doing in Perth...

Yes because providing a random picture walking alongside Andrew Brayshaw is exactly what all us Melbourne supporters want to see..

It's like showing me a picture of my ex misso alongside her new fella.

Move on.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
