Monbon 1,840 Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 Can't say I was impressed with his admission that he was 'gone' after the Bye, that he flew to his mum and checked out the Eagle den as well. Um, doesn't that mean that focus has evaporated? Doesn't that mean that from Round 14 he was going through the motions? I wonder whether his stats curved negative from that point on... 1 Quote

Rab D Nesbitt 8,966 Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 When Scots playing in the English Premiership get the call from one of the big two clubs north of the border they usually can't get back up the road quickly enough to sign. This is more like getting a call from Partick Thistle though. Quote

I was okay with him leaving and understand but the more I hear him speak about he knew from round 14 after meeting them the more I’m getting Jeremy Howe and Tom Scully anger haha kick in the guts that he still couldn’t give us the rest of the year before checking out 5 Quote

It's a fact of AFL life. Good point. I don't have any ill will towards Luke Jackson. He loves his family and wants to be closer to them. He helped end the Melbourne Demon's 57 year Premiership drought. For that I am forever grateful. However, many of us here would be guilty of booing Tom Scully though, but those were under different circumstances. Edited October 10, 2022 by Supreme_Demon 1 Quote
BrisbaneDemon 1,575 Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 All I heard was “cannot wait to get stuck into it” a thousand times over. You could tell he was overwhelmed by the questions. Super disappointed he left, I think he’ll struggle under the expectations/ scrutiny. 1 Quote

IRW 1,388 Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 I wonder why The Munster resigned with Storm fir a net season loss of 250K and the chance to ay at home with his good mate as coach. It might be a club culture and management thing perhaps. The Dee's are secondary ( or third) tenants in the Storm HQ; perhaps Max could stop podcasts and coffee and ask for some advice. Who's going to shack up with Kosi this season I wonder. Quote

jules7 816 Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 (edited) Not impressed with his interview and enthusiasm for his new club. This boy needs to have some humility and appreciate the grounding and lessons he learn’t along with the premiership, and rising star award. He has a long road to travel and hopefully he learns some respect and grows up very quickly. Edited October 10, 2022 by jules7 Spelling 4 1 Quote

I am all for getting deals done, but this has really been a bad outcome unless something magical happens and we turn the Jackson picks into gold. Not sure how anyone fails to comprehend that a club doesn’t have to give anything another wants when there is no competition for an in contracted player. They also can’t give up something they don’t have. If I was Freo I would of said take 13 or stick it up your [censored] Dees. People fail to forget other clubs are enemies & don’t want to help another genuine threat in any way. We knew he was going last year so should have traded him then (he would have gone) while Freo would have offered us more. 1 Quote

I remember Gawn telling a story that Dogga saw a pineapple and didn’t even know what it was. Sheltered kid. Wish we got more for him because he is worth far more than what we did get. But homesick kids with what I’d probably consider to be an unhealthy attachment to their mother - id rather them gone. I’m surprised she even let him play football to begin with. Basketball is a far safer sport. Then again, the eyes In WA aren’t on it. Deal done now so we move on. As a player I think Jackson was already a gun, and the potential is there to reach further heights. His inside work is up for with any midfielder, and he has an aggression rarely seen for a big man. Freo got a steal and a half. Hopefully as a club we learn our lesson a bit and put more resources in psychological assessments and the mental side of a player. Quote

Why not wanna be close to your loved ones? If you can’t relate, pity you 😔 2 Quote
Roger Mellie 4,205 Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 Not that I'm bitter or anything, but if Jackson crumbled under the weight of expectation with his massive contract and living in the WA bubble, and played accordingly, that would be ok 2 Quote

He’s a 20yo let’s cut him some slack having to deal with such a big move, we’re the club informed during mid season on his intentions to allow the club to negotiate earlier?? the players seemed to think he was staying as per Gawn response. 1 Quote
Deecisive 1,709 Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 Disappointing end to his career with the Dees, he is only getting the chance he has now and the $'s because he was part of this great melbourne team. I did not think he was overly effective for the back half of the season, i dont know if this was a mental thing, or he had just checked out and was going through the motions. I did expect more from him. sad that he could not recognise the contribution the melbourne football club has made to his playing career. life would have been very different had he been picked up by the eagles, or north melbourne. 1 Quote
