Patience, Bingers. It will hit the tonne. As sure as the Mighty Dees are Premiers, we’ll hit the tonne.

The tonne is a metric unit of mass equal to 1,000 kilograms. It is also referred to as a metric ton. It is equivalent to approximately 2,204.6 pounds; 1.102 short tons, and 0.984 long tons. The official SI unit is the megagram, a less common way to express the same mass.

Surely you mean a ton - as in 100 runs -> cricket

Care to adjudicate?

Isn’t it so that ton and tonne are the same thing, just as program and programme are the same?

Let’ hope @Demonstonecan settle this. 🙂

One ton is roughly equivalent to 2200 pounds or 1000 kg’s. To put this into perspective, the average adult male weighs about 90 kg’s. It would take 11 adult men to equal a ton.

For those wondering about other things that weigh one ton I’ve provided a list below

  • Baby Humpback Whale
  • Walrus
  • Black Rhinoceros
  • Wild Asian Water Buffalo
  • 1979 Volkswagen Beetle
  • 110.6 million feathers
  • 333 Standard Red Bricks
  • 73 Bullion bars of gold
  • 31.2 cubic feet of saltwater
  • Adult Male Moose
  • Saltwater Crocodile
  • 22 cubic feet of sand
  • Great White Shark

Your welcome

Tonne is the name for the metric unit. Ton was (is, in some very limited parts of the world) the imperial unit.

It's not out of the question that "tonne" is used as a synonym by some fancy pants recalcitrant avoirdupoirists in the same way that "programme" became differentiated from "program". (Program was the original English spelling, then the first Jesus freaks went to America and took the spelling with them. Some time afterwards the English decided to Frankify their language with  fawncy spellings, such as "programme". For that touch of class. Same word, different spelling.)

The usage of "ton" in this context most likely derived from the old measurement of tonnage in shipping, where a ton was taken to equal 100 cubic feet of general cargo space.

Anything that reached 100 (e.g cricket score, vehicle speed, number of pages) became referred to as "hitting the ton".

Does Libba think it's his job to remonstrate every time a Melbourne player tackles a Dogs player? Is he the faux tough guy that has to push any opposition player that has fairly brought a teammate of his to the ground.

Perhaps if he spent more time getting in to position and less time pushing and shoving he might have been more effective.

Jack just gets on with it he cops a wack and just gets up and plays on.

With the release of the new Matrix movie, I thought that making this analogy was apt.

I've been thinking of the best way of describing our our comeback from the halfway point of the 3rd quarter over the last few months. This is close to the best way of doing so. That said, the Doggies are in no way the first team I'd compare to Agent Smith (the Hawks, Bombers or Eagles are worthy candidates). I do have a soft spot for them for sure.

Like Neo, it was almost like when we re-realized that we WERE the best team in the league, nothing they could throw at us would land.

I can't remember if I've said on here before, but I'm gonna say it again, so glad someone thought to go with the jumper point during the many goal celebrations in the game. Such a classic but you can really only bring it out in big moments, otherwise it's cheapened. So to very legitimately do this in a GF and actually remember to do it among the chaos was great.

Watched the replay (again).  So many magic moments that BT simply misses.  There are so many small acts that add up to greatness.  15 goals to 1.  Unbelievable.

mrs Nekkid sees me watching the replay : ‘are you winning?’… ‘not right now, but I have faith’ (bang, bang, bang, bang, etc)!!

glorious!

DETECTIVE SERGEANT CHRISTIAN PETRACCA: in my deep cover disguise as a professional football player, I have secured an on-field position in a football team and have tracked the killer to Perth. I have reason to believe he could be here in --- wait ... THAT'S HIM!

THAT BLOKE: Oh Christ. What's he doing here? Is he looking at me? Don't panic. Act natural. Cover the scars with your hands like you're just ... oh Christ. It's all on camera too. CURSE YOU, DETECTIVE SERGEANT CHRISTIAN PETRACCA!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
