My kids asked me what unfurl means!

A good lot of our supporters would also not know what it means. After Wednesday I hope we all get used to that word in the future.

I’ve already got seven copies of this and I haven’t even bought the paper.

Footy-wise, I’m the black sheep around here. Well, the red and blue sheep. 🙂Today is a continuation from the fortnight leading up to the GF. The elderly locals went nuts. Every day I’d be given anything and everything Dees from the HS and The Age and even the local Leader newspaper. And since I’m too polite to say, ‘Thanks, but I already have 48 of those,’ I now have enough to wallpaper my entire house. Twice. And still have leftovers. 😁

My neighbour walked in holding a newspaper clipping yesterday ,covered by a tissue so his hands didn't touch it, saying he was going to trash it but reluctantly thought of me. Already up on the window for him to see. FILTH SUPPORTER. He is so not looking forward to this season.

In a world of 'fake news' and streaming of information to specific audiences, I really hope the GF telecast wasn't some wildly elaborate CGI hoax.

In a Truman Show style prank the producers would never have let us win. Best storyline would have been to come back from the dead then blow the three quarter time lead. For this reason I'm almost certain that it actually happened and I'm not being strung along in an elaborate scam.

I think what's happening is we're trapped in a living nightmare, where, against all the odds, we made the grand final against highly rated opponents, and having worked our behinds off to get in front, just needed one more goal to seal the deal. In a kind of devil's bargain, we got that one more goal, while watching our opponents roll over us in a goal avalanche of unprecedented proportions, which will see the grand final we were in go down as an all time classic, regardless of the blowout margin. It will be watched and talked about for years, especially the final minute of the third quarter where it didn't slip away from us, it was wrenched with a force we were helpless to resist., with all our shortcomings laid bare And now we've had 5 months for the horror of it to fully sink in, only to find ourselves up against that same opponent in our very next match. No wonder we're getting precious about a song. It's all we've got to hang on to.

I want to feel sorry for Bulldogs supporters, but I sat through 2 seasons of Mark Neeld. It was a MUCH worse nightmare.

This is spooky. I was given Bob Murphy’s book a few years ago, but didn’t really feel like reading it at the time. After we won the GF I picked it up - I think I probably would have felt jealous reading it before then.

Here’s how he describes the moment he knew the Bulldogs had won the flag. How those words came back to haunt the Bullies six years later.

What happens after he says shiny a few times?

It sounds like Wiggins with the headmaster in a Derek & Clive routine.

Forgot to mention but I walked past Jack Watts as I was leaving, he was heading in to the Presidents function. Pleased to see him there as a supporter.

Hands up.
Who's watched the Grand Final since the season started?

Had cause to feel a bit antsy about something.
Three goals in 31 seconds resolved it

I'm having a quiet arvo at work today so I just re-watched the Momentum mini doc.  It brings out the emotion of the game and what happened behind the scenes superbly and I found the tears of joy welling up again.

Haven't watched it but have listened to the radio calls of both the prelim and GF 😎

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_VFL/AFL_premiers

So in my opinion we actually sit clear 4th on all time AFL/VFL Premierships, we have the best winning ration out of Richmond and Hawthorn by far at 13/5, Only Brisbane has won 3 x as many as they have lost and that is off a small sample size. But the table clearly has forgotten to include AFLX, so our score should read 13.1

Oh and I have an average of watching GF highlights twice a week.

Happy seven month anniversary everyone.

Has anyone found a video of the two Geelong games (Round 23 and PF) with a KROC commentary. That would round out my collection so well.

The Perth MMM commentary is sublime

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.

The Demons return to town fresh off a thumping win over the back-to-back wooden spooners, the West Coast Eagles, played in front of a sparse crowd at Marvel Stadium, the same venue that hosted last week's heartbreaking loss.
