So correct me if I’m wrong but the cats have stated that a number of their staff/players had gastro prior to a during the match last week. There can’t be a coincidence with this and this has just come at the worst possible time for us.

I hope the club and medical staff have done everything they can to prevent it from spreading further.

MFCSS definitely kicking in now!!!!

Get the feeling cats had been dealing with it for weeks, didn’t danger have the runs in round 23

Gastro is very contagious. Zero chance it would have taken a full week for symptoms to occur, if we did get it from Geelong.

Also Goodwin and Yze would have had a lot less contact with Geelong players than our players, who all appear to be fine.

More chance they both caught it out and about. I assume they've been hanging out, maybe went to a cafe or dinner together and got sick.

Since it is so contagious, it is a good thing they are isolating from everyone else.

You'd think gastro would have shown up before now if it was from the cats a week ago?

We're over a week out from the game. Obviously not ideal for a player to get it, but if they did how badly would it really affect them come gameday?

For the love of Norm..

The ‘vomit’ emoji is most apropos here…

Word coming from WA supporters at the open training is it was dodgy seafood not gastro.

If true, that's obviously a lot better than gastro.

Depends who you are!

Dodgy Seafood is BAD…

Antibiotics can fix it pretty quick

(memories of Koh Samui 2002….)

Also makes a lot more sense that only 2 coaches have it considering they’ve spent a lot of time in close quarters.
Food poisoning is a 48 hour thing. So here’s hoping.

Not ideal, but at least not contagious.

Positive news, all the players were out there. Still the club would not leak anything if the players were under the weather because your basically raising the white flag.

Time for the Shane Warne diet when he traveled India, suit case of baked beans

So it's not just the fans soiling themselves before the big game.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
