Clarrie was below his best.

Might need a spell in the twos.

How much Shiraz have you put away? 😄

No change unless Maysy doesn't come up. My hunch is he will, but who knows what might happen.

I feel a deep sorrow for Jonesy, been through all the [censored] times and couldn't work his way back in.

was looking the goods until he pinged his calf my heart goes out to him.

He has been one of the main drivers behind our revival.

God bless our Jonesy boy.🇭🇹🔴🔵🤴👏

May will be fine, its 15 days away and he went back on, before the game was in hand and they took him off.

Depends on our opponent, Smith the only change but neither side are really tall like Geelong.

An exceptionally Smart move by Goody bringing Maysie off very early after halftime.

He did not need to extend himself at all which my works in his favour.

A smart move to be smashing them by enough to be able to have our entire AA squad on the bench with 10 minutes to go. Very good planning 😂

Would normally agree.

But given there is no VFL.....

Should have said, if May's injured, I think it will be Joel Smith (assuming he's fit). There aren't any other reasonable options.

Majak Daw in a fairytale story?

In a like-for-like scenario, if Joel Smith is unfit, that's a possiblity right?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not pushing for that line-up in a GF, but who is the replacement in the hopefully-unlikely scenario that neither player is available?

I'm so drunk. Took me ages to type that.

Out: JJ

In: Hunt (sub)

Agree with this. That's the only change.

Port are tall though, they will have Dixon, Ladhams and Marshall, and possibly Georgiades as well.

Probably not Georgiades unless there is an injury...

Will be interesting to watch how they set up tonight.

They play their best with a smaller forward line but I think at least 2 of their players are suspect.

Grey's knee didn't look stable last game, he took bump that forced him to put lateral pressure on in the last Q and really struggled from then. He will be a watch.

Fantasia is always a risk and was subbed out last game...

If one of those goes out then Georgiadis will come in and that usually over balances them.

The 4 get in each others way.

If May is out then Jordon in.  I don't think we need another tall def for Port or Dogs.

This allows Chunk to be Medi Sub.

If May is fine,  then no change.

Id love Chunk to get in, but would not like to be the one telling Jordon that he is dropped and not because of form.

Plenty.

Ooh ...well ... that is a problem.  Maybe give him another chance.

Can I nominate myself for tenth-in-line medi-sub?

Obviously no change if possible.

However if May is a bit iffy, even 90 percent he'd still play but we have to pick Hunt as sub.

Smith has the speed and is better in the air but Jayden has more flexibility playing roles up forward, on the wing and proved himself down back this year as well.

Id probably have him as the sub even with no change over JJ who clearly hasn't done anything wrong.

I don't envy the selection team next week. Hearts will be broken

Goodwin will give his medal to chunk. Rest easy legend.

Max might even do that - he is such a great leader.

But if May isn’t  right then Hunt would be the likely very lucky guy.

If Hunt is fit then he's ahead of Jordon and Jones as the sub, and what a tantalising sub he would be.

Maysie will be right...I feel it my bones and waters, the tarot cards and tea leaves are in agreement, and that [censored] octopus (whatever it's name is) is a Dees fan. Maysie treat that Hammie like your first born!!!

Chunk carries too much risk

- potential recurrence of calf injury

- sub par in last couple of games

- no match fitness from recent Casey

- JJ or Hunt as medi - sub

- JJ has recency, earned his stripes

Jones would be first to say, “ if I’m not best 23, don’t pick me”

Depends a bit on who we play...but both teams are likely to be small in the forward half.

If that's the case and May doesn't come up then it might be Hunt in.

Otherwise no change.

Yup my thoughts too. Although if we do play Port they may try to stack up tall to exploit it using Dixon, Georgiadies, Marshall and Ladhams. But tbh I’d me more worried with a more balanced lineup that has Fantasia, Gray and Rozee in there.

Not the right thread I know but I want to put the spotlight on Sparrow. He played a solid game … I wouldn’t trade him out. Let him get to 50 games and reassess.

No change for mine, love everything Chunk and Jetta have given for and mean to this club, but unfortunately for them they aren’t best 22/23 anymore

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
