I never paid much attention to Schofield until he popped up in an AFLW commentary team for a Dees v Freo game. I had to mute him. His West Australian bias was ridiculous and general tone was obnoxious. He’s a DH

He was on Perth radio the other day saying he’s returned to his childhood and gone back to being a Cats supporter, because he was only a West Coast player and never a supporter. Since he’s stopped playing he’s returned to being a boy from Geelong

Shows you his logic

Clarry has been getting lots of media attention due to his great late season form, and he destroyed them a few weeks ago. They’ll put more effort into him tonight

This reminds me of a famous quote from James Hird.

Once after another excellent game he was asked who was tagging him?

he replied - " Don't know - did I have a tag..?  "

He wasn't being smart - just had no awareness of taggers and played his usual game.

That's Clarry. Out of control tonight, again.

Inspired by some of the earlier comments in this thread still uncertain what beverage will help me through the game tonight.

Luckily I live right near a Dan Murphys .

Imagine if it is anything like the last time we played them I will spend the last quarter not drinking and just pacing around the room either way aha

Less than nine hours to go.

This to fill in eight mins..

I wonder how much the teams have changed.

The teams have changed substantially since then. For both, only 12 from that night are playing.

Our team was:

FB: Jetta, O McDonald, Lewis
HB: Salem, Frost, Hibberd
C: vandenBerg, Oliver, Harmes
HF: Melksham, T McDonald, Brayshaw
FF: Hannan, Weideman, Neal-Bullen
F: Gawn, Jones, Petracca
I: Viney, Spargo, Tyson, Fritsch

Their team was:

FB: Kolodjashnij, Henderson, Stewart
HB: Bews, Taylor, Tuohy
C: Blicavs, J Selwood, S Selwood
HF: Menegola, Ablett, Kelly
FF: Parfitt, Hawkins, Henry
F: Abbott, Dangerfield, Duncan
I: Menzel, Murdoch, C Guthrie, O'Connor

Although they'd be at 15 if they could, as they'd be playing Stewart, Parfitt and O'Connor if they were fit.

Big game needed from Trac and the midfield tonight. Clarry has been getting lots of media attention due to his great late season form, and he destroyed them a few weeks ago. They’ll put more effort into him tonight, so we need others to break the game open. Perfect night for Trac to regain his most damaging form and kick a few goals.

He put on a clinic last time they met.

Its interesting Trac is always touted as the star because I really think it is usually Oliver who does the most damage.

In the last final against cats in 2018...Viney played a ripper.

I believe our midfield will dominate tonight.

Thanks very much for this Titan.

Melkshams 2018 form was terriffic. Weid was firing then too but Id take bbb over him.

Anb and Fritta most improved.

Jackson and Kozzie the wow factor.

Trac and Oliver have gone to a new level.

Jetta and Lewis probably the biggest outs but with May, Rivers and Lever...

Our backline is so much better.

The new matrix trailer has dropped today for anyone needing a distraction.

Ta.

A couple of weeks back i decided to watch Matrix. I hadn't seen it since its release. Has held up remarkably well, both in terms of its story (simple and classic sc fi), design and use of CGI.

Often films from that period (2000s) that use CGI look incredibly dated but Matrix still look amazing. In part becuase they stayed simple, and of course used the classic king fu movies cables so well for the fight scenes

I then watched the second one - Matrix Revolutions. It was better than i remembered it being, albeit over the top visually and the story getting too convoluted and operatic. And the CGI did look a bit dated

Being a completist, and in preparation for Resurrections,  I thought i might as well watch the third in the series - Matrix Reloaded, a film i have never seen. Simply awful. The story is a complete mess, it is padded out with horrible action sequences, the CGI is impenetrable and the sound design almost gave me an aneurism.

And to top it off, i had forgotten it (and the second one) was filmed in Sydney at Fox studios. So the b grade Aussie actors that pop up in it kept distracting me.

As sci fi fan i'm looking forward to  Matrix Resurrections - but i I hope it is a return to form.

Those bastards. They'd do anything to put us off our game.

I've gone for Furphy as they're a club sponsor, feels appropriate. I think I'll go through them like water tonight!

I'd take that with a huge grain of salt, but I wouldn't be upset if his mail is accurate.

Went out and grabbed some lunch yesterday and the guy behind the counter always wants to talk about the Dees (think he’s a blues man), he’s really pumped for us to get a flag but the funny thing was the other lady he was serving us a Cats fan. She said she really wanted us to win the flag, it was amazing.

It won't be a good look with their white shorts!

I’m as nervous as Anne Frank practising the trombone!

60 year old unwavering follower here - yes mum dressed me in a Melbourne jumper in the cradle, had Hassa Mann’s number on my back.  Will be sitting on my pat malone in Sydney tonight.

$4!tt!ng bricks is an understatement over here.  I feel like I'm playing in a prelim.  Trying to find excuses not to go the pub right now and getting straight on the pints.

Presentation done, now roll on 7:30! Come on Dees!!

I was just given a "Creme Brulee Stout" by my son for fathers day.  Reckon that's appropriate 🤣

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
