Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

the greatest recovery performance for sure; their shows in the 90s when they toured were incredible

right now: dawn richard and stephen zahn collab album, and earlier today new releases from taylor swift, arctic monkeys

last weekend: bluebottle kiss at the gaso

this weekend: tame impala at rocket arena

That JSBX performance is legendary.

I was never that into Taylor Swift but I’m a massive National fan so I really liked Folklore, and she won me over.

Artic Monkeys are a fascinating band now I reckon. So much diverse influence in what they are doing. It’s quite admirable how creative it’s all got.

I’d be excited to see Tame Impala. I read Kevin had to make a public statement warning people about the shows, as the lighting is so intense some people had seizures. That’s always a good sign. I think they’ll be amazing.

Even the mods don’t like it. I asked one of them why this god-awful song is the intro to the DL Podcast and he said because there’s nothing else apt.

I said even this would be better…

FUN FACT: Goody’s all-time favourite song - not just his current fave, nor one of several faves, but his ALL-TIME favourite song is “My Happiness” by Powderfinger

Such a unique instrument, have you seen this movie/doco on it's creator?

220px-Theremin-_An_Electronic_Odyssey_Fi

This is one of my favourite music documentaries. Leon Theremin’s story is almost unbelievable. Immigrates from Russia to New York, not only invents the Theremin instrument and a host of other instruments/contraptions, but essentially creates the concept of “motion sensors” entirely (the next time a door automatically opens for you, thank Leon). Then, as his inventions begin to get noticed, he’s abducted by the KGB in the subway, and sent to work in a Siberian work-camp where he’s forced to create devices for them (including “the bug”). His story doesn’t end there, but I don’t want to give anything away.

His protege (and the woman he was “courting”) in NYC was another emigré from Lithuania called Clara Rockmore. She studied Leon’s instrument with the utmost dedication, and is to this day remains the finest of all theremin players.

If anybody else is also reclined on the couch, enjoying the grey skies and looking for something both meditative and epic to listen to, I can highly recommend this album by Floating Points (Sam Shepherd), the London Symphony Orchestra and the recently-departed jazz giant, Pharoah Saunders.

What's your all time fave WCW?

I love a broad range of music styles but Voodoo Child (Slight Return) by Hendrix is my all time #1.

That’s a fine choice, Dr. Gonzo. If pressed to choose a favourite Hendrix track, I’d have to say “1983…A Merman I Should Turn To Be”. Runners up are “Machine Gun” (Band Of Gypsys) and the live version (Winterland,1968) of “Hear My Train A Comin” from the incredible album “The Jimi Hendrix Concerts”.

My all-time fave song is called Karibien by a band called Air France, a Swedish indie duo whose music was in the genre of “post-rave bliss” or “beach foam” as are many of the bands I love. They formed in 2005 but broke up in 2012 breaking my heart in the process and leaving the stingiest back-catalogue ever (two EPs and three singles). They never toured and there’s no chance they’ll ever re-form. But what little they did leave for us fans is incredible.

I love Hawkwind! In Search of Space is a great album, very much like a "rockier" early Pink Floyd (thinking Saucerful of Secrets/Meddle).

I’ve seen my favourite band, Sigur Rós, six times. Three regular shows in three consecutive years, twice at festivals and then the world premiere of their music documentary, “Heima” followed by a Q&A.

I had a ticket to see them in August this year but chose to go to our Round 22 match (vs Carlton) instead. I bought the concert tickets not knowing there’d be a clash (thanks floating fixture!) but don’t regret blowing off the concert since remember how that match ended???😁

I've seen Tool at least half a dozen times (I've actually lost count) although unfortunately I missed out on tickets for the Aenima tour ☹️

Rage are one of the few bands left I still haven't seen live - was 5th in line for tickets when they came out around 2007 and played Festival Hall I think and tickets sold out after the 2nd person. I can't remember if they played Big Day Out but I didn't go.

Would also love to see Metallica and Guns n Roses live but I am extremely hesitant to pay hundreds of dollars for a gig at a footy oval. I just can't imagine it would be any good. I had level 2 tickets at Docklands to see Metallica in 2019 I think but Hetfield went into rehab so the tour was cancelled

I saw Sabbath when they came out in 2013 and had a blast, it sucked when they played songs from the new album they were promoting but when the sirens started blaring for War Pigs at the start of the gig my god!

A couple of other great gigs I've been to are Cypress Hill at Metro and also at Festival Hall, Electric Wizard at the Green Room (Supercoven & Return Trip were immense), Tomahawk/Fantomas/Melvins at The Palace, Melvin's playing Houdini live at Ding Dong Lounge and Nine Inch Nails at the BDO.

Would love to see Run The Jewels as well if they toured with Rage would be awesome but not sure that's gonna happen any time soon.

I saw Rage against the Machine in 1992 in Melbourne

At the time I hadn’t heard any of their music. I bought The Killing Album, the following day

Great Memories. The energy in the Crowd was similar to a Full Midnight Oil Gig

You imagined right, Dr. G. I’ve been to quite a few concerts at the ‘G and the sound was substandard each and every time. These were massive shows so I guess it made sense to stage them there but it’s not ideal.

Same! I had tickets to Sigur Ros that night and didn’t go because of the footy. They weren’t cheap either.

‘Staralfur’ in The Life Aquatic is my favourite use of a song in a film.

I thought I was to only one who had to make this heartbreaking choice! I agonised over the decision right up until the day before. In the end I gave my ticket to my 17yo son and he came home a different person. In fact, we both landed home at about the same time, and it was as though we’d both had five large coffees and/or a huge hit of speed. Both shoving our phones into each other’s face with Untitled 8 and the last 40 seconds of Round 22 flying around the room.😁

And I totally agree… The Life Aquatic and Starálfur = a marriage made in heaven.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
