Certainty to Cats for Selfridge and Hawkins. They need to get blokes who can supply a steady stream of free kicks and winging.

Melb - Weid + 34 to suns

Suns - 22 + 43 to melb

Melb - 22+42+43 to dogs (1618 points compared to 1161 for Darcy)

Dogs - 14 to melb

Melb - 14 + 2022 1st (18) to Freo

Freo - Cerra to Melb

Nice idea. Can't trade 3 first round picks in 3 years. That might stop it?

$s shouldn't be a problem as he will be taking less than Freo offered to get to Melbourne and a club in contention.

The one thing I know about the MFC recruiting team is that we're targeted and strategic.

If we're going after Cerra and have the money for him (which we clearly do) then we'll find a way to get him across.

Might involve losing a couple of lesser players (Weid, Sparrow etc) but we don't go out on a shooting spree like Norf.

If Cerra wants to come to us, we'll find a way.

Trade vanders for a 2nd

Lol

Anyone who wants Vanders will be able to get him as a DFA. I’m a fan, but he’s just about at the end of the road.

It's certainly looking increasingly unlikely that we'll have the draft capital to satisfy Fremantle unfortunately.

From Sam McClure article.

While Cerra is said to be extremely impressed with Melbourne’s presentation, he is also excited at the proposition of playing alongside Carlton duo Patrick Cripps and Sam Walsh.

Carlton propaganda. Disregard.

Getting rid of Sparrow? Crazy. Great game against Brisbane and will only get better.

my word, the reporting on this is bad, even for footy journos.  basically tweet/print any random thing they think of

We won't get it done without Jackson going to Freo.  what utter nonsense!   we don't have a first round pick - we didnt the last couple of years going in to the draft either did we?  but look at Kozzi and Bowey.

If we want him enough and he wants us enough, we can get it done.  he would have to accept unders from us though.  would be a massive, the kid is a future gun

And then we have to pay him ........probably overs .

Probably Nathan Jones & Nev Jetta are close to retiring so that may give us $$ room, but.......Jackson, Rivers ,Jordon, Bowey ,Sparrow start to move into bigger kids $$$

We spend our time developing younger players e.g. Chandler, Sparrow, ANB, Jordon, Bowey , Rivers, Jackson and then just throw our development away for a "might be".

Isn't it amazing that a player at another club is always better than what we have got . Our Midfield is the last area needing strengthening. ( Our 3rd best midfielder is playing on a wing, our ex Captain has modified his game to play compatible football inside our structure)

Given the age profile (and upside ) of our current list there is a lot of improvement to come and this GROUP is compatible

Some sensible observations here. Would be nice to get Cerra. But not at the expense of what we already have. In the meantine, there is a premiership to be won.

Us Melb supporters are so use to discussing potential trades rather than playing finals this time of year, that we have fallen into our usual habits.

How we go Fri, and then hopefully in a fortnight, might also have an impact on players wanting to come to us.

True, but gut feel is it wouldn't be draft picks we would trade anyway.

Fair bit to play out in this story IMO.

Surely we aren't going through all this effort to have a meeting with him and not think we can pull something out of the hat.

I think that was a throwback to the Sydney trade offer.

100% believe we might get him, but just don't think we'll be trading picks to Freo for him.

Can’t stand hyperbole like this!

So, by this logic, Fremantle wouldn’t accept Clayton Oliver for Cerra?  How about Petracca?  Maybe we could package Rivers and Kossie and throw in a first rounder??

Jon Ralph trying to fill his Twitter profile with definitive statements to make it appear that he is ‘in the know’.  On reality, he sounds like a fool.
