Out: Smith, Melksham, Sparrow
In: May, McDonald, Viney

Gus had a stinker, as he’s tended to do against quick sides that take the game on. But if they didn’t drop him weeks ago - eg post the Giants game - I doubt they will now.

What they should do is look at Gus to half back or half forward at various times if he just isn’t getting the job done against quick wingers. Can use JJ, Harmes or Bowey on the wing instead.

If the Bye week gets cancelled then I reckon we should consider a rest for one or two of Jordan, Kozzie, Salem

Could run Jones in, preserve Smith, and maybe leave Sparrow in (although he's out for finals)

Salem's been sore for weeks

Agree completely.

If the Dogs do beat Port we will finish no worse than second hence I see no issue resting Max, Salem and or Kozzy. I would also give May and TMac another week off. Having fresh players in the finals will be key.

Smith not good enough out MAY in

T Mac in

Kossie out Jones in

Melksham stays

Please take a bex and lie down !

Te you resting Kossie or actually dropping him ?  Big difference .

Prob won't happen as he doesn't deserve being dropped.

May Viney  and Tmac in.
Smith Melk and Sparrow  out.

Who comes in and who goes out for our chance to win the Minor Premiership?

Obsessed Geelong supporters such as most of the umpires, the match review committee and Channel 7 commentators. That would be a good start.

Tmac in for Fritsch. OBVIOUSLY.

I reckon if the bye round is scrapped then both Cats and us will rest quite a few players. Will be nearly a Casey V Cats reserves game. Cats will rest Selwood , Danger and may lose Hawkins but I doubt that as he is a protected species. We could rest Gawn, Kozzie and anyone else with a niggle or two. Makes sense and boy will the AFL be peeved off if it happens.

So there’s some big ins in TMac, May and Viney

Candidates to be dropped are Sparrow, Jordan, Melksham, J. Smith and Hibberd.

Two of those will be safe unless they decide to bring in a Jones or a Bedford/Chandler.

Cant see Weed getting back in now unless there’s an injury to a key tall forward.

Almost worth doing just to p off Gil.

I would consider J Smith as the medical sub. He is really quick, can take a mark, although he is a poor decision maker at times. No way do we make Jordon the sub. If Viney plays, he starts in the 22. Sparrow is 1 preseason away from AFL standard, and Vanders is, well, Vanders.

My changes assuming fitness

May for Hibbo

Viney for Sparrow

T Mac for Melksham

with Gus and Jordan lucky but might still go depending on if they want Hibbo in the side

Also Harmes to do a Tough as nails tagging job take no prisoners on Dangermouse!

I’ve said many times that I’m not a Melksham fan (he wasn’t great today) but I still like the idea of him being in the team.

Possibly at the expense of Jordon, but I don’t know.

Brayshaw needs to find a bit of form, he looked way off today.

Real credit to Bowey that no one is questioning his spot in the team… clean smart and composed.

This is so unfair on Geelong.

So on that basis, it should be moved to the MCG.

See my post above.
AFL not ruling out playing this at the MCG to fulfill contractual obligations of games played per year.

AFL has had plenty of chances to play recent Vic games at the G but hasn't done so which makes me sceptical of Ch &'s reporting.  Why now would be my question of Ch 7.

Anyway, can't see Geelong agreeing to this.  Unless they have a wink-wing, nudge-nudge agreement with the AFL to play Home finals at GMHBA.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
