IN: McDonald, Hibberd
OUT: Sparrow, Hunt (inj)

Vanders back to sub. Jordon retains spot.

My immediate gut reaction is TMac/Weid for vandenBerg (I want the second tall forward back into the side so if TMac's not ready Weid gets the game, and vandenBerg was our 22nd ranked player tonight and I'm happy for a last in-first out principle here).

Hibberd for Hunt if Hunt can't play.

Other changes to be considered if we need to rest bodies on a tight six day break.

Avb , Hunt out.

Avb is a liability gives away free kicks. Slow and gets tackled and can't break them. Tried hard but no longer up to it.

In Tmac and Hibberd.

Also wouldn't be against Jones for sparrow

Hibberd for Hunt
McDonald for Melksham
JJ stays in
Vanders back to sub

Would have to think about if Salem needs a rest but they didn't do it this week and it's now getting really close to worrying about continuity and game time if he plays once in 3 weeks.

Melksham?

Surely we can get all smug and “manage” Pickett and Rivers for this game. With top 4 set and finals venues largely irrelevant due to Covid this game means [censored] all. Love these guys but they are second year players who might be tiring a bit. I’d include Jacko too if he wasn’t contributing so much.

Did his job against fatso in the middle quarters but had only 1 moment to set up the Kossie goal where he looked anything like AFL intensity apart from in marking contests. Was down right abysmal after the break in play too.

If we need a small ball full forward to mind an interceptor he's an option, but if McDonald is right to go we can't have him, Fritsch, BBB, Jackson and Melksham.

One of them has to go.  Last in, first out.

I agree with the lot that Hibberd should come in. McDonald has to come in if fit. Hunt out injured and Sparrow omitted. vandenBerg omitted from the sub and Jones to replace him as the sub.

OUT:   Hunt (injj), AVB, Sparrow

IN:   Hibberd, TMac, Jones

SUB:  Sparrow

Spargoat is on notice & needs to lift!  Does a few good things on the odd occasion but rarely asserts himself over four quarters.

Should have kept his head after that. Ark in the last.  Just gone straight back assuming he took it rather than play on regardless of [censored] umpiring late call.  Also misses too many shots at goal from set shots from not very far out.  Can't kick beyond about 30 meters accurately.  Even though he must know this he still kicks the ball right to the line where there's very little chance of scoring a goal and 9 times out of 10 it will just go through for a rushed behind.  Kick it to the top of the square son FCS or dish it off to someone who can slam it through from 30 to 40 out easy.   Imagine not being able to make the distance from 30 out in a GF and needing just a merger minor point to win the match!   Don't want another Eishold pls.  Know your limits and play to them young fella.

Needs to turn up the wick for longer.  Goes missing for too many minutes.  Lockhart a potential to replace if he doesn't up it this week IMV.

Because this week he was excellent and last week he was awful?

I've been glad Sparrow has been given a few consecutive weeks to establish himself and build form after being there abouts and banging down the door in the magoos.  Problem for me is that he hasn't really imposed himself on the side in any games within that time and hasn't made any real case to keep his spot any longer.  Someone like Jones or Melksham are more damaging and creative from the limited opportunities they get in games.

Still appears to have some potential to step up and break into the side in the future and is handy depth, but I feel he needs to put in a really big preseason and take his game to another level, because apart from being a really good kick for goal he is somewhat vanilla at the moment.  Seems to have a good ballanced head on his shoulders, so I'm backing him to persevere and make a go of it at some stage, I just don't think he's best 22 material in 2021.

Yeah that's definitely not happening.

Melksham will stay in.

This. Hibbo is a good replacement for Hunt.

Any word on Hunt’s ankle? I fell asleep before the press conference

Salo definitely looks hurt. No way he is moving with the freedom he had earlier in the year.

Speculation only but I reckon it's the groins.

To be assessed on return to Melbourne with scans. I infer that to mean he’ll miss - ie it’s proper injured and not just precautionary.

Unfortunately my gut feel is that it could be ankle syndesmosis.

Fingers crossed it's not.

He came back on after he injured it, so hopefully that is a good sign it is not too bad.

In the second half of the season he has become one of our most important players. Would be a huge loss. And very hard to replace his run and carry
