Honestly think they should start again with his left foot. He strikes them pure on the left. His right is a bunch of nonsense, spinning the ball around, arcing out and then praying he gets the big draw on it.

Arms straight, don't spin the ball, keep your ball drop over the kicking leg, drop it straight and kick straight through the ball. Why do some find it so hard? It is their craft!

I just love the way BBB marks the ball. He is just clunking them now. Octopus arms. He seems to grab them in positions that it doesnt seem like hell get to it....like its an OzKick ball.

Finding form at the right time.

Loved the win got challenged and hung on a sign of a good side. Loved Neal-Bullen's game one of his best. Bowser will get a rising star nod and even though he had a quiet month his last 2 weeks have shown why Jackson will win the rising star award. Big game against the Crows have to smash them like we did the Gold Coast.

Agree we were in total control Natanui and Yeo were dead on their feet before their little half hour rest.

Winning last week and this week in really bizarre circumstances shows a lot of character

Hope you got to the game mate and enjoyed it. 👌

He was great tonight, I prefer him in the middle than Viney.

Yep, he actually knows how to guard space defensively, and not run at every opposition player mindlessly... #playvineyforward 😉

Viney is one of those rare players that seems to play better the less midfield time he has (small sample space I know). 50-60% forward time is the go.

Can’t stand the Weagles.

1990s roids-machine wasn’t endearing, nor was the meth coke era (although ‘88 elim final was ok - thanks Andy Lovell and Gazza!).

2018 prelim experience didn’t help, especially spending $3k to get deaf in their whiz bang stadium and endure ‘Eagle Rock’ on a loop post game on the loudspeaker with large, uncoordinated shorts-wearing fans dancing and shaking their hips with glee, guts spilling out, singing along out of tune in between chanting, “MCG, MCG, MCG”!

Umps don’t help. A cool 28-16 tonight, 10-2 to close out the game. So predictable.

Always playing them in Perth doesn’t help. 8 out of our last 10 games against them have been played in Perth. How ridiculous. What elite sporting league in the world has such a fixture lacking in so much integrity and fairness year on year? The last time we played WCE at the MCG was in 2014. 2014 for god’s sake.

And don’t get me started on the number of times we’ve had to play Geelong in Geelong, versus other teams, over the years.

The sad irony is - for us Victorian-based fans - we’ll most likely have to win the flag at bloody Optus Stadium this year. At least it won’t have to be against the Weagles. They’re done.

I’d argue the pinnacle of our season so far was our undefeated run to start the year.

I’ve been on many journeys with this club,  [censored] years of the 70’s & 80’s, the run in 87, the GF in 88, the journey of beating the Hawks twice in 2 weeks in 1990 (basically unheard of back then, only to lose to the Eagles after having a week off), 1994 with arguably our greatest ever forward line, 2000, seeing us going 14-4 then not winning another game in 04, the drought breaking 2018.

There’s only 1 journey I want to be on and I hope like hell it is the journey I’m on this year. We have not been in  a better position to achieve it for a very long time. When you’re aiming for the gold medal are you happy settling for the silver or bronze. Maybe you might be satisfied with that (no problem if you are), but I’m all or nothing.

Mate, just stop.

Lockdown 6 is doing some strange things to normally rational people.

Not a temptation the selectors will even remotely consider, and for good reason, right there on the competition’s goal kicking ladder.

They won't drop him, but when he doesn't kick goals or even connect forward of centre, he offers close to nothing.

Weathered the storm (LOL),

Really thought a mature club like WC would bank those 4 points and secure their finals spot, and expected us to be fighting right up to round 23. Funny feeling having it the other way round.

We done Dees, a club with a changed culture.

Oliver, what a game winner. Creates the moment for us.

Gee , we give others a look. Need ruthlessness, and the idea that missed opportunities leads to a change of momentum. Stay focused for the entire game, steely, hard and not accepting a weak will.

Worried that the game has passed AVB. A few others were in and out, some a bit more out than in.

Jackson, hard to match up on, try's and keeps pushing, gets to the contest, plays tall and still developing. Has become an important player.

Tracc, Oliver,  Harmes lovely work around the contests.

Lever, not allowing marks, slapped everything.

Petty, winning quite a few one on one's and placing himself in the right position.

Jordon picked up for Hunty, though without the flare.

May, Gus, Langdon, Salem, Gawn solid games, but I still want more.

Liked that Sparrow has endurance, saw him all over the field. Lost his footing a few times, and thought he looked rushed. Hoping he finds something in the next two games.

Melky did enough to keep his spot. Nothing like an old head in that forward line.

ANB and Bowey, so many assist, always there to help, works so hard.

BBB is building.

I want us to play on and be a bit frantic occasionally.

Some of our close in handballs broke the lines well.

Still too many bombs and straight kicks into the forwards. Lower your eyes,  kick to space and advantage, use some angles in the delivery.

Seemed difficult for them to stop our momentum in the third. Good quarter of footy.

Entertaining game.

That B Taylor needs to shut completely up. He called Hunt Langdon. He continually barracks for any and all opposition sides against Melbourne. He adds no intelligent commentary. He never comments on poor umpiring decisions when they go against Melbourne.

Lightning doesn't strike twice so don't worry about that robbing us of the flag.

We are truly coming this year.

That lightning call reminded me of tennis when there is a dominant player and the other one calls an injury break to stop the momentum.it was BS

Tigers - Tiges

Kangaroos - Roos

Bulldogs - Dogs

& more. Bit of a long-standing tradition to shorten your club’s name, no?

At least we’re not the Magpies. Imagine being unfamiliar with the game and thinking that a club had named themselves after an oven-baked snack.

I don't agree with this. Not sure why you single out Fritta week after week and regularly call on him to be dropped. Thought the whole forward line's chasing and tackling was great tonight. Back to the standards we saw in the first month of the season. Fritta was an integral part of this.

Opposition teams put a lot of work into Fritta these days. As leading goalkicker that's par for the course. Take McDonald out and it's tough for a skinny bloke to play as an undersized key position player.

Where’s Dr D(rivel), the Oracle of Dross, the Demon Doomsayer, he who reverentially refers to himself in the third person, firing his scattergun of prophetic excrement all over the forum walls with narcissistic pleasure?

Check your very well-researched ladder predictor, Drivel. No vindication for you after all. Try again next year. Or, better still, don’t.

I miss Dr. D. I think his posts are hilarious. Can't wait to hear him explain that he knew we were going to finish Top 4 all along. He's comic gold

Clarry. That's all.

The very last centre bounce where he ran at pace towards the Eagles goals and (in my view) had no right to get the ball, but did and dished it off was incredible. 5 years ago, when McCartney spoke about his capacity to hit the ball at speed, that was it, exemplified.

Stoked with the win, but gee I wish we were better at set shot kicking, like others have said I really hope it doesn't cost us a finals win.

The commentary from Eagles supporters on social media is crazy.  They are crying vic bias, AFL agenda etc etc because of the umpiring.  I wonder which game they were watching?

Oh and Oliver's final centre clearance was a thing of beauty.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
