faultydet 7,623 Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 This game was not as important as the Swans losing, but wonderful to see the umpires lose a game they tried to win. Good weekend. 5 Quote

Jaded No More 68,976 Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 You know the Bont is winning the Brownlow just by how much the umpires love and protect him 3 1 Quote
titan_uranus 25,253 Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 This isn't as good a result for us as people think. If we go 2-1 from here and the Dogs go 2-0, the Dogs will finish above us - even with this loss, we still have to win all three games, and/or the Dogs have to lose to Hawthorn or Port (in Melbourne), for us to finish above them. It's certainly possible (Port's in form, for example), but it's still not that likely. But Essendon's win puts them in pole position to finish in the top 8, particularly if we beat West Coast tomorrow (Essendon has the percentage buffer over all their competitors). Quote
The heart beats true 18,201 Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Last night I said GWS had given up on the season. Today I said the bombers looked horrific. And, last week I said how glad I was that Peter Wright didn’t come to us. Im on a roll folks! 2 10 Quote
BDA 23,048 Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 this weekend has shown the teams playing for finals spots are dangerous opponents. WCE are in danger of dropping out so we have to bring our A game. A slow start is not acceptable tomorrow 3 1 Quote
Brownie 6,086 Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 And the pies lost too. What a weekend! Quote
dees189227 12,509 Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 You do realise that Essendon have an easy last 2 games and will probably make finals now and we have to put up with there arrogant fans. They are actually not a bad team & could cause some trouble. 1 Quote
Mr Steve 3,820 Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 (edited) What a weekend for Melbourne. .Started of hoping to stay in the top four ended up playing for top spot. Just get it done. Edited August 8, 2021 by Mr Steve 1 Quote

They'll do nothing in finals 1 1 Quote
Wadda We Sing 10,685 Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Yep ive had both WCE and Freo out of a finals series thats played in Perth. This season just keeps on giving. 2 1 Quote

dl4e 5,851 Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 So some people are already celebrating top spot and we have not even played yet. And top spot means nothing until the end of the final series. Quote

That puts us on top. Then we have to outdo Geelong and the Bulldogs by a game, because we'll only be half a game in front. So, if we beat West Coast tomorrow, and then Adelaide, but lose to Geelong, both Geelong and the Dogs will pass us unless they lose another game (which requires Geelong to lose to St Kilda, or the Dogs to lose to Hawthorn or Port).
