Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Coaches split:

  •  5 and 4 Petracca/Oliver
  • 3 and 3 Gawn
  • 2 and 1 Jackson/Lever

Very consistent voting by the two coahces this week.

Oliver on 101 has a handy lead over Bontempelli who is on 94.

Nice to see Jackson among the votes from both coaches.  His performance justifies the confidence Goodwin showed in him in his previous press conf.

I am quite shocked Oliver didn't get a perfect 10. He did have a quieter second half though.

Didn't think Max was as influential as normal around the ground, and thought Steven May was just enormous on King who literally did not touch the footy.

But what do I know.

Nice to see Oliver leading the coaches votes. He isn't flashy like Bont, but his consistency is incredible.

i hope this doesn't seep into Trac's ego and cause him to lose his new found selflessness.

i was quite happy with Bont being the brownlow favourite and ahead in the coaches votes just as i was happy with being 3rd on the ladder.

We are still a bit immature when it comes to publicity and expectation. The 3rd quarter against the Suns was all to telling with the Hollywood handballs and low percentage decision making. Individual accolades dont win you GF's and are best left until after seasons end. Would be just as happy for the Coaches votes to be sealed in the same vault as the brownlow counting only to be opened up in the lead up to the GF.

Given that he had three handballs, he literally DID touch the footy.

Only rarely and to no great effect, though.  May thrashed him.

He literally did not touch the footy once in the air? Better?

We have waited so long to have genuine stars in the midfield. Hasn't happened in my 33 years following the club and now we have 2.

All hail Clarry and Trac

No wonder  we are third on the ladder and one of the real chances for the flag for the first time in 21 years.

If it doesn't happen this year we have the list at such a stage that any time within the next 5 years it could be just as possible.

I've said it before but I think Gawn is criminally underrated by a lot of posters here and media elsewhere.  He played a fantastic ruckman's game, got the ball moving in our direction (31 hitouts 42% to advantage), kicks a couple of goals, goes at 69% DE and has 11 score involvements (second highest for us).  Lyon says on the telecast that Gawn has been quiet - Fox Footy group think takes hold, the media who aren't at the game but listen to Lyon's commentary all fall for it.  Only the HS listed Gawn in the best players.  Nothing in the Age for Max, nor AFL.com.au.

He was statistically better than any other ruckman this week in nearly all categories.  Both coaches rate him the third best player on the ground.  The coaches clearly didn't listen to the commentary team.  It never ceases to amaze me how frequently wrong the "experts" are.

He & Tracc decided to share the gold

Agreed with this but I would extend it, somewhat, based on the team performance. What stood out for me was the communication and almost brotherly love between Tracc and Clarrie. This includes Gawn and Gus as a framework of the magnificent four. It lifts the whole team, in particular: Jackson, BB, HIbberd, Lever, May and Kozzie and Salem (when fit). There is almost a silent co-operation going on between these blokes and when we win, it stands out like dog's marbles. At the gritty end of the spectrum, it could well be the reason for the wins we've had this year.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
