The last 2 times I have been to Geelong we lost by a near record margin in one and there was a massive fight in the crowd in the other.

It is not ideal.

They was asking for it, and I gave as good as I got.

I love youse all.

I was there in 2015 and you could hear a pin drop. It was bliss!

Then booked a ticket before we [censored] the bed against the Blues in 2016 & sat through an absolute feasting on the carcass belting by Geelong for Roo's last game (which was also his worst loss as a coach).

That game was a disgrace.

Wouldn't mind playing the Dogs at Marvel if we finish 3rd or 4th and play them. We play a beautiful brand of footy at Marvel and all our games this year have been over by 3 qtr time at the latest.

Our record under Goodwin at Marvel is 10-3 or thereabouts.

Having said all that I'm pretty sure we'll be playing Geelong if we hang onto 3rd or 4th.

If we go 2-1, we'll likely finish 3rd - would require Port to beat the Dogs in the final round to pass us and push us down to 4th, or would require one of the Dogs and Geelong to go 1-2 for us to pass them and move up.

You'd expect both the Dogs and Geelong to go 3-0 from here which means 2-1 lands us Geelong, unless they make up the 9.4% gap to the Dogs.

3-0 likely gets us Geelong too, as we'd pass them, likely finishing 2nd with them 3rd.

Hey wouldn’t it be just like Melbourne to have to play cats in geelong first week of finals then go to Perth a play west coast the week later ?

I’m gonna make the call that WC will not be playing finals.

Giants to win 2 of 3

Eagles to lose next 3 games

Giants in. Eagles out

Anyone still want to say that dropping games to COllingwood, Hawks and Adelaide didn't matter??

?

Do people ever say these things “don’t matter”?

I think you’re conflating that sentiment with “not much point sooking about it ad nauseum on Demonland”.

But if we lost to Geelong, Port and the Dogs it wouldn't matter?

At the end of the day every team loses games. It happens. We did it against mostly crap teams plus the Dogs once. Dogs and Geelong lost to more top 8 sides than we have, they just happen to have won half a game more than us in the entire year, so are currently sitting above us on the ladder.

If anyone told you pre season we would be pushing for a top 2 finish with 3 games to go in the season would you have taken it?

I really don't see the point of crying over the losses. They are done. All that matters now is what we do next.

We can go on to win the next 3, or lose the next 3, and only those game will determine what happens come finals.

Yep, we finished ninth on the ladder last year.

It’s a vast improvement.

This is all anyone can reasonably hope for, and I hope next season keeps heading in the same direction.

I was proud to be a Demons supporter for the first time in a long time this year, and whatever may happen in the finals, I’ll be grateful for this alone.

We dropped half our side to qualify for Casey VFL Finals. Instead of sending off a coach who pulled us out of the clubs darkest era..

Geelong had a home game against Richmond last week and asked the AFL to move it to GMHBA due to no crowds. The AFL denied it and the game went ahead at the MCG.

Whateley said that the main driver of this was that the AFL didn’t want to set a precedent. The AFL knows Geelong will have a home final and they will want it played at the MCG.

We’d have to be one of the unluckiest teams ever if we’re forced to play at GMHBA in week 1 of the finals.

Surely if we’re going to have a capped crowd for finals, having 25/40/50/whatever% spaced out at the MCG is better than the same at Geelong.

I think most people will see it that way too. Unless of course if the CMO is a cats supporter.

would be interesting if we play the cats 2 weeks in a row though (rd23 and QF) don’t see that all too often.

Will be interesting if we know we will be playing Geelong in 1st final before round 23 how would we approach the last game, I would be inclined to send Casey down and rest our stars, I bet Geelong will do the same thing

There is no way Geelong should be allowed to play a final at GMHBA. That they train there provides a massive home ground advantage that no other team in the league has.

Can't play WC in WA as we are higher up. Thought you would know Finals grounds location conditions of higher side with home advantage.

Just win all the rest of our games - and I mean all finals too - and we will all be happy.

Why are people automatically writing us off for the round 23 game? I think it's a 50/50 game, not a certain win for the Cats. I think the narrow ground might actually suit our defensive structure, I'm looking forward to the game.

Didn't mention any thing about playing at Geelong. If they end up 2nd and we are 3.Rd then we play either at GMBHA or the G

BUT YOU wrongly asserted we could play the next week in WA at Optus which we can't as we would be the higher up team.

AFL are very cognisant re erosion of rights of teams in any ground changes etc.

Hoping we go 3-0 and Port beat the Dogs. That would put us top with a home final against Port. Wishful thinking? ?

Not gunna happen.
