There was something very Richmond like in their prime during that last quarter. We just kept surging it forward and put their defence under enormous pressure.

Gary Lyon almost in tears he is so excited. He is choking up, and that's OK so am I, such a sensational win.

Tmac Oliver Trac Spargo Gus Rivers Kozzie Maxy ANB , votes going to be hard, alot of people really lifted.

Our running, I am sorry to say this but Burgess needs to be treated like a Pharaoh's engineer, and not allowed to leave. We just made Brisbane look silly.

Garry looked like a super proud father, barely holding it together. Wish he'd had let it out.

Just home from the game and now watching the replay. We just wont give up. Really good crowd apart from the [censored] Bears supporter near us, who went missing in the second half, must have had a flight home. Could dish it but not take it.

I just love this team and back next week! Sadly not at our fortress, Giant stadium. Go Dees.

Is flag with an o censored?

Shout out to Harry Petty. A few had questions on him, but this kid is going to be a star intercept defender. Another Jason Taylor special.

Love seeing the boys go over to the crowd to enjoy it with them. I know that often happens, but seeing that small but loud as f cluster going nuts was just awesome.

So proud of this footy club right now. ❤️?

Please don't use the word cluster in a forum full of Victorians. Very insensitive.

Thanks to all demonlanders for your well wishes today.

The boys definitely did it for my mom tonight and I am very grateful.

Well done boys. What a win and great noise from the small crowd.

How composed is James Jordon-  for a player in his first year of senior footy?

Not only is he running out games well, I now have confidence that he’ll be a key contributor come finals time.

The more times Charlie gets the ball the better we are - he creates, he is smart, he rarely if ever wastes a possession. The great thing is he is getting it more and the team is better for it

At half time I said we looked flat and I was a bit worried

after half time we were back to the team that moved the ball with fast hands and connected with forwards - half way through the third Brisbane looked fatigued and despite the closeness of the scores I felt reasonably relaxed that they were completely on top

such a weird feeling !

so many players lifted a gear it was great to watch

it was the first time I’d seen Trent Rivers play live - kid can play

From watching the coverage, the place seemed to be buzzing considering it was a crowd of 13,000. It usually has the atmosphere of a librarian’s funeral but I guess all it needed was some enthusiastic supporters.

Yeah, Petty is progressing very nicely isnt he?

197cm key defender who can judge the flight and take a one grab mark.

Worth his weight in gold.

Interesting how they used Melksham in a defensive role through stoppages. He seemed to mostly go with Lyons, which freed up Oliver and Petracca to be more offensive. He also played as the extra in defensive stoppage at times. I thought he played a good game.

Premierships are often won by clever recruiting. To find the "bottom 6" on the list who can make a difference at the pointy end of the season.

Jordon is almost an automatic selection now.

Can run. Can tackle. Can read the play. Can kick. Can handball. Defends like his like depends on it.

The type of selection who defines a recruiters career.

Watching the replay again at the moment. Weideman, Fritsch and Melksham all brought a defensive game this week. It makes a huge difference to the intensity forward of centre.

Despite what the haters around here think he must be doing exactly what Goodwin wants him to.

Does this mean Melbourne will start as favourites every week now?

Simon Goodwin has made us better every year, apart from one drastic fall down the ladder.

Nathan Buckley has made Collingwood worse every year, apart from one stunning rise up the ladder.

#uselessfacts

There’s a great expectation by the football world and media for a team’s rise to be linear, 12th to 10th to 8th to top 4 to premiers. It rarely, in fact I don’t think it has ever happened that way.

It is honestly a privilege to watch the best player I’ve ever seen in red n blue play each week.

Clarry is a dead set gun.

We've played 24 second half quarters this year

We've only lost 6.

Thanks Burgo

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
