I don’t think Sparrow will play wing, so I’d like to see Hunt and Rivers alternate the position.

Lions missing Gardiner and … otherwise at full strength

I think Harmes on McCluggage is a good move.

Rayner is also missing, he’s easily in there best 22. It’s a good test, if we beat them tomorrow, then we can beat them come finals no issue, this will be there best chance. Loose and we have some excuses.

Harmes will either go to Neale or Lyons. Think about what kind of player Libba is and how Harmes doing a job on that type can helped us last week at the source

He won't go to McCluggage

The loss of Langdon for this game cannot be underestimated. He always provides an option as an out when a player is in trouble

Agree 100%

Really? Thought he had been injured in the twos for some reason.

Baker the sub for me. It would be poor form to be the sub in your debut.

Poor form?? I HAVE WATCHED training and seen Casey Games. This Kid if selected will go well and deserves his spot

Also missing Cam Rayner and Jarrod Berry, both are best 22.

But yes, they are pretty much on par with us in terms of strength of the 22 playing. Most other clubs have more missing than this.

not what he means. He means it would be poor form by the club to make someone be the medical sub  in their debut

Yes I understood that, but why Poor form??

Hope he gets the Gig!

i guess morally to debut a kid as a medical sub doesn't look great

Good and simple change. I like the way the FD have been doing ins and outs, not trying to over complicate it. Best guess is that Jordon will have first go on the wing.

I feel like this is a big week for Weid, he has to at least start being a cog in the machine, I feel like right now he’s not sure if he belongs.

Kozzie as well, he’s been relatively quiet in the last month, against one of the best teams and on the big stage it would be great to see him get back to form.

I reckon he goes to Zorko

Harmes needs to tag Lyons, he's their go to clearance winner and accumulator. Much like Libratore the week before. Zorko and Neale will match up well with Oliver and Petracca. Sparrow and Jordon are both good defensively minded players, so they will be able to stem the flow if either of the aforementioned players start to dominate for Brisbane.  Melbourne by 17.

True ...however Bulldogs avoided the Langdon wing big time and went down the Bradshaw wing which is why he was more involved & Langdon had a quieter game.   I trust our systems & look forward to seeing what Sparrow brings

Soooo who’s making it to the game?

(Would normally attend but unfortunately I’m 868km (according to Google Maps) too far away from being able to utilize the outside of the ground as part of my daily exercise for a run and sneak in a few glimpses while I listen to the radio broadcast)

Stoked that Sparrow finally gets a run. Hope he gets in the guts and tears it apart.

Mitch Robinson was pretty good last week. He's the one we'll need to stop.

Upgrade that from plain white to a sourdough wholemeal Brown rye without the pickled gherkin. Thanks!

He’s someone that you’ve got to pay a lot of respect to, I think in his case the way to stop him is the win the ball. If he gets lots of uncontested possessions he can hurt you pretty quickly, that said he’s not one that shirks from the contest either.

Some big match ups all over the ground, I was really annoyed we lost last year and we’re a much better side now. Really excited for this one!

Should have won and had we, we'd have made finals.

I've been casting my mind back to the game. Pickett missed a soda handball to Langdon in the square, Bennell missed from 10m out, then in our final foray forward Hannan had Viney open inside 50 but went long, high and to the pocket, missed, went out on the full, then Fritsch gave away 50 by not giving the ball back.

Infuriating. Would love to win tomorrow just to feel better about last year.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
