Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Where will we play the Lions?

Why?

Because if games go back to being played predominately interstate then of course it puts a massive strain on the club and our chances. Brisbane Sydney and Port will be loving this.

Why can’t the lions travel to Melbourne and stay there in isolation?

This makes sense. Lions have a bye week followed by a game v North at Marvel.

Time for them to relocate on the road for a few weeks to Melbourne after their free pass last year

Jaded, I understand what you're saying but I don't think it's as big a concern as you think, for a couple of reasons.

1.  MFC are the real deal this year and I believe we can win the flag regardless of where we play.

2.  A Victorian based team was able to overcome bigger obstacles last year (and beat another Vic. team in the GF).

MFCSS and COVID are a deadly mixture!  ?

Goodbye normal winter in Melbourne. Goodbye our football season and flag chances. It was all too good to be true.

You truly are jaded. Grab yourself a strong Irish coffee, sit back and relax and watch some of these highlights:

Looking ahead one week, I don't think that the QB game would be a big a boon as many on here think, the Filth are going that bad that their members (who are as fickle as Hawks members) wouldn't have shown up at the G. I would be surprised if we even would have got 40k there even with a 100% capacity. Didn't they only get 15k to a Filth v Freo game a week or so back. They are in a world of pain (wipe smirk off face) and just won't show

Still 40k would be better than zero.

Agree with is.

We got 31,000 to a Melbourne V Collingwood game in late 2019 when we couldn't win a game to save ourselves and even the CFC supporters weren't that interested in attending despite being a top 4 side that year.

With the Pies down and out, I think 35K - 40K would be a solid estimate for QB this year.

I still think both sides should have their bye in round 13 in the hope that we can play this game on Saturday night 19 June at the MCG and have the big freeze then.

We only have one potential big home crowd left and that's against the Dogs on a likely Friday night in late July. GWS, Hawthorn, and Adelaide home gates won't be paying the bills this year.

Gee if we are not in the position of teams being able to travel by September we will be in a world of pain. Does not bare thinking about.

I think this lock down has a 6-8 weeks stench about it. Today's numbers and the settings where the virus spread were a blow IMO.

Back at the G in late July. Miss out on seeing Pies, Dons and GWS games.

Why is everybody [censored] the bed over covid right now. NHL is about to complete a shortened season (56 games + playoffa) all at their home stadiums. Some didn't have crowds. Can't we isolate the players from the public as they fly in and out of cities?

We could always set aside a few thousand doses (1st and 2nd jab) and vaccinate the players and club staff. Would that mean we can cross state borders (i'm not sure of the rules)? I'm in the 40-49 age bracket (still trying to book my vaccination appt time) and i certainly wouldn't object to this as long as vulnerable groups aren't disadvantaged.

Perhaps we could somehow seed Covid in those states. Level up the playing field.

(Only joking of course)

Agree on the Giants stadium which has 2 nice hotels walking distance to the ground in the Olympic precinct. There are actually no hotels that close to the SCG. I recall last year they stayed at manly which is a long way from both grounds.

If the AFL allowed them the NSW Directives allow players out for exercise. I'd book somewhere in Bondi or Coogee and allow the boys to have a swim.

They are unwatchable at the moment. I don't blame the pies supporters for not turning up.

It was arrogance that led to us agreeing to playing two games in cairns last year and missing finals. Smartness beats arrogance. Play at a neural ground.

Did we have a say in it? I'd say not.  If it was the arrogance in this scenario it was our big heads thinking we were playing some lowly teams and coupled with the rain and wind which we couldn't cope with turned out yo be a gigantic disaster.

Maybe if they handed out rotten tomatoes and got Joffa to parade around the MCG in an open vehicle at half time we could attract a few more.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
