According to the AFL website:

The teams will be wearing their specially designed jumpers for Sir Doug Nicholls Round, which is celebration of our First Nations stars and their culture.

Max in a pre game interview confirmed we won’t be wearing the indigenous jumper due to a clash. We’ll wear it next week in.... cairns?

Yze just said we won't tag anyone. Going to let our midfield go head to head...

Hannan 57 games 54 goals 152 marks 591 disposals

Fritsch 70 games 81 goals 376 marks 1003 disposals

I'll let you and BBP do the maths.

Important to note Fritsch has played multiple positions. I’d wager around 15-20 down back

Marvel and closed roof is a massive advantage to the Dogs. Unfortunately for them finals aren’t won at that dump. So meh.

What do you hate about them Mr Balls?

The fact that they are a media favourite or that they are an umpires favourite?

Or is it 1954?

Or the fact that they stole our sponsor back in Jimmy's time?

Or that they are a footballing Bambi?

Or that for almost their entire history they have been rubbish and yet still are a media and umpires favourite and a footballing Bambi?

Yep. I think that's it.

Rab rabble rousing for the cause again?  After infiltrating the Little Saigon market off Barkly St, ensure your operatives subvert the kennel catering for the doggies half time energy rolls with lashings of veterinary grade laxatives. What jumper tonight? A mainly white probably works best against the dogs. I cannot imagine any red and blue combination that would not clash with the dogs.

Jesus od… white jumpers for us are putrid, disco blue or the all red numbers thanks!

Should tag either the bont or libba. Harmes should get the job.

I'm feeling the same OD. As much as I want to be positive, 60 years of mediocrity has made it hard to get too excited. A win tonight would go some way to reassuring me.

Go Dees!

Big game.
They'll wanna show us and we wanna show them.
I'll be happy if we kick straight and play like a proper finals contender.

just saw on the tv the dogs have won there last 7 games at marvel with an average winning marking of 56 points. ?

Fritsch is a better player than Hannan no doubt. But forgive me if I’m a bit dirty on Fritta after playing 2 career worst games in the space of 3 weeks.

The entire forward line needs to atone from last week.

In fairness he might not be telling the truth

maybe not a Tag exactly but MaCrae will have someone on him

Great interview, especially when he revealed the spray he gave Oliver at half time for their midfielders having 20pos at half time and Oliver taking that personally and responding.

David King said Doggies are an 8 goal better side at Marvel than anywhere else. They're not playing the GF at Marvel.

Not concerned with a loss there tonight; would be more concerned of they beat us at the G later in the year.

That means a seven goal loss is a one goal win for us at the g!

Their defence aren't trash at all..

Keith has done a really good job holding it down back as has Williams who's been playing as a tall and doing extremely well. He's the next Dane Rampe.

They absolutely killed us off the rebound last year and have continued to slaughter teams with their aggressive defensive counter attack.

If anything it's our forwards who have been trash. Fritsch, Melksham, Weideman have no defensive bone in them and have been crap the past couple of weeks.

It'll be a great clash, but I think they have the edge over us.

Fritz is a great talent. However he nreds to fix the fact if he aint scoring goals he has to do the basics in chasing, sheperding and tackling.

Hes been lacking in this but I dont question his talent.

Sam w is playing for his career in the next few games.

I cant comment on Melk because he has too many supporters here. Wish him the best of luck.

Playing games, of course they will tag.

Harmes needs the run with role.

Jordon can do stopper roles.

ANB with Daniels.

Maybe not from the start, but it will happen, as has been in previous games, especially if someone like McCrae, or Libba get too much ball or if Bont starts taking control.

It was a great interview wasn't it. Such a cool customer. Thought it would be great to play some of it on the podcast, particularly his comments about how we would look to mitigate their strengths and respond during the match.

Basically said we would set up to back our system and only change if necessary. Defintive we wouldn't tag at the start.

I'm a little worried tonight:

- Playing at Marvel

- Doggies red hot

- We have had a tendency to start slow

- The Doggies are the wrong team to start slow against, or give too much room (we've been guilty of that, too).

- Years of letdowns, brittle psyche etc.

BUT

I've got to build faith from somewhere, and that's what this team is doing - so I'm going to keep faith. I think we'll come out firing. We might not win tonight. We certainly can, and I obviously hope we do, but all I really want is an honorable performance by a team who is the real deal, building towards something huge. The Tigers had heaps of losses as they built towards their flags. A loss is not the end.

Whatever happens, we have to show up, bring hell and prove that no matter the result, this is only the beginning. Because it is, go Dees!

Pumped!

Round three 1954

Dees 6.22

Even know we won against the dogs....Lets not see that goal point ratio again.

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG to face the Tigers in their annual Blockbuster on ANZAC Eve for the 10th time. The Dees will be desperate to reignite their stuttering 2025 campaign and claim just their second win of the season. Can the Demons dig deep and find that ANZAC Spirit to snatch back to back wins?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
