AFL site is reporting that Sparrow is the medi sub.  Odd as it is usually nominated just before the game.

Potentially due to COVID restrictions on who can attend?

Would’ve liked to see us go back to what made us successful and drop Wiedeman.

Melksham does not  lay a single tackle against the Crows but hey heres another game.

Has he got Goodwin's dog?

I misread the AFL site.  A medi sub hasn't been nominated for this week.

Gee, that's funny

Weids last chance. Lucky for him BBB put in a stinker at Casey. Last week 9 touches and 1 goal matching career averages of 9 touches and 1 goal  a game just aren’t good enough. Gotta rev up.

In - The real DEMONS! (fingers crossed).

Bring in what we delivered against R'mond,  and we win comfortably.

Weideman still in

FMD!!!

Game over

It was nice at the top while it lasted.

Smart move by the FD. Weid will either dominate a mediocre WB kpd or realise he's better off re-signing on backup depth wages and avoiding a rabid fan base that wants their big money's worth. Win Win... I think? ?

What does this mean? I laughed when I read it and now I’d like to know why I laughed. ?

He must have something of goodies cause he continues to get a game when he shouldn’t.

Id prefer Bb.

Weid was poor last week but so were most.

The game prior he was better than Brown.

On the whole I think bbs three games were pretty good except his last. Was dropped too soon.

Despite my preference, Im glad the club has not reacted so quickly again and at least given Sam another chance.

I do think Tmac is a better ff than Sw and they should swap positions.

The more I think about it the more devastated I am about this game not having a full house and the players a clear run at it.

Finaly two of the also rans get a Friday blockbuster and it turns to poo ps the week before.

Anyway go Dees!!

At least we're giving Weideman a crack at it. The next six weeks or so (depending on Covid) will tell the story...and soon to be out of contract. Interesting times. I still reckon that Mitch Brown is stiff not to get more games. Good grab, knows how to find space, contests, understands his role and kicks goals.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
