If he plays well, it'll be interesting to see what happens once Jackson is fit.  I don't think it's implausible that he holds Jackson out when both are available, in the same way others have held him out.

it keeps the heat on Ben Brown and Tom McDonald as well, 1-2 bad weeks and Jackson could take their place.

Nothing to do with Weids promise Mania . I am 61 and feeling comfortably numb is normal .

There will be times where Brown weid and tmac will share the forward line, I am really excited to see this.

Hopefully he can kick a few and cement a spot in the team. He'll need a run of games though, at least 3 i'd say. Very difficult to hit the ground running after such a long lay off.

Bulldogs will be nervous if Weid finds form. their backline is a big weakness imo and if we can get our midfield sorted over the next 2 weeks, which i'm conident we can, we could become an even better side

I feel the need, the nnnneeeedd for Wwweeeiiiidddd!!!

Glad to hear Mark Williams is high on him, hopefully Sammy has the confidence to take his shot.

Can’t wait for him to be potted if he doesn’t star, give him a few weeks people!

Would love to see him kick 3+

I'm a big fan of him and hopefully he can get a handle of the Jones or Weitering (although both a pretty solid defenders)

Very interested in his attack on the ball/defensive acts too

Put the pots down Sammy and the chips or you’ll end up looking like Hutchy.

I am a good deal older than 61, CH. Comfortable, but not numb. I play golf every day and that makes this 'senior' lithe, lively and relatively fit for age. Try it, you'll love it. Footy has its frustrations that we bear. Golf has even more frustrations that are the characteristic fun of the game.

To your post, earlier, I almost stated: My Floyd has turned pink, and my numbness is as weak as the Waters.

This proposed 'fit and ready' forward line that we have been planning will be frightening for any opposition. Our backline is already in their nightmare(s) and if the midfield can re-group, distemper will set in with halucinations of the Red and the Blue.

Remember when we had Tmac firing next to Hogan , Hannan and Garlett. It seemed like a powerful combination.

Well now we have Tmac firing....Bbb...Sw...Kozzie and Frtiitta.

Not too shabby.

Fans will burn the joint down if he makes a hash of it.

2+ goals, 10-15 touches, a few free kicks and maybe a contested mark or two.  Cause thats an average game from Ben Brown based on career performances.

Admittedly, all reports are he's taken a big leap forward this year so intriguing to see. Hope he gets a few weeks to show it.

Jacko  will come back into the team no doubt so it is up to all players to perform to keep their spot.

Would have thought after 5 years in the system by Weideman - all the puns would have been exhausted...

I suspect 'headline writers' have around 1000 options just sitting there...and just need to scroll through Demonland ?

Yes, but if he teams well with Ben then it will be Hash Browns!

(I will see myself out now)

And the following week in Adelaide, Weid'll stone the Crows.

Good thing you didn’t.

Just a little bit of fun, a word play, that's all.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • PREGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne

After four weeks on the road the Demons make their long awaited return to the MCG next Sunday to play in a classic late season dead rubber against the North Melbourne Kangaroos. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
