Wow if wet conditions don't suit Kossy then no conditions will. Should be "Small mans Paradise"!

I think Rivers was important again. Not in the best but in the last quarter, he has 3-4 clearances out of the back 50, spoils and some important tackles.

Three words “Plays his role”. “Reliable when asked “

I always enjoy your thread Joeboy, but think you’ve stuffed up this week. You’ve criticised 13 players, more than 50% of the team, yet we just beat a current top 4 team. That doesn’t add up.

Spot on assessment Joeboy.

We were lucky to win despite a large number of players not performing.  Too many peoples eyes glaze over with a win.

What is comforting is that we could win with so many down.

Great summary but too harsh on a number of players IMO .

Especially Bullen - lifted on Sat and lead the way with spirit . Lever - effective again . Spargo - many high pressure acts . Petty - a 21 year old with few games looked very calm and composed .

Love that each week for every player that has a quiet game two others lift .

Very proud of all players ! Would love to see Weids playing in the team .

Sparrow ... intimidates the opposition?

No mean feat considering he didn't play.

Such negative comments. I think people forget how good Sydney are.

It's another impressive win, so for me there should be mostly praise for our players.

Not as bad as Andrew Wu (The Age) who really made the statement that "first gamer" Jordon when describing the tackle .

Worth noting: Good sides win ugly  often !!!   Tonight was one of those games where fluency was a scarce commodity but persistence was gold !!

Joeboy - unrealistic lofty standards.

Many here on ‘Land obviously expect now to win every game by 10 goals.
It ain’t going to happen.
A tough hard win like last night was superb to watch.
Sydney threw everything at us, relentlessly and we were up for the fight.
players didn’t star last night (TMac and Clarry aside), but they worked bloody hard

Agree. I’d actually have Sydney as our toughest and best opposition we’ve played this year. It was great to come away with the win and was a great contest.

The amount of people disrespecting Sydney and belittling them, particularly over Facebook, is absurd.

Very harsh.

My thoughts:

Gawn - Battled not beaten

McDonald - Exceptional core strength

Brown - Had strong presence

Petracca - In and out

Spargo - Played above height

Melksham - Hard to commend

Fritsch - Clearly not right

Pickett - Quiet yet pressuring

May - Not Buddy's buddy

Salem - Career best form

Harmes - Proved Demonlanders wrong

Jackson - Stemmed Swans Clearances

Lever - Couldn't establish position

(On Lever - Swans were clearly dragging him up the ground so he was out of position. Longmire coached against us well here but restricting our aerial dominance in defence. Thankfully Jordon, Rivers, Jackson, Langdon and Melksham all came back to contest)

Brayshaw - Was well beaten

Oliver - Back to best

Hibberd - Pig in mud

Langdon - Reliable and everywhere

Jordon - Plays with confidence

Rivers - Battled but bruised

Hunt - Often good run

Neal- Bullen - Did he play

Petty - Came into it

Bit harsh on Neale Bullen and Brayshaw. Both of them are playing "team"games. Statistics do not fully reflect the role a person plays.

Actually I feel the team has improved markedly in what some would term the "Bottom 6". At the start of the year you would not have classed Neale-Bullen, Spargo, Kozzie, Fritsch , Rivers , Jordon & Hunt as important cogs in the machine. These are the :lower stats/effective players.

Oliver/Petracca high stats & effectiveness. McDonald has been the big mobile forward we hoped was going to be around.(has proved a lot of people wrong) with sheer effort and committment .

Brayshaw should've been dropped last week, but alas he was chosen and he played horrendously again.  He turned it over regularly or kicked in on the full. We can't carry his foot skills anymore. Must drop
