Defence and midfield are okay. Forward line is still a problem.

Last week was a win and a good win, not many wins are perfect. Not sure why people are trying to take the gloss of it just because the Saints got smashed by Essendon. Saints played a hell of a lot better against us than what they did yesterday.

There’s no way Essendon are a 13 goal better side than them, it just shows you how quickly the game can change week to week. Port and Saints both got smashed yesterday but for different reasons. Port tried hard but were just outclassed by a unit I believe has the best foot skills in the league and they couldn’t break down the Eagles’ system. Blind Freddy could tell you the mindset displayed by the Saints was very poor.

I’ll be happy if we keep beating what’s in front of us, continue showing a level of maturity and team ethic that was on display last week and you go a long way in winning games.

Kick straight and we will win by 80

Only thing I am worried about is how unpredictable the season has been so far.  Anything can happen.  Even Josh bruce kicked 10 goals

I think based upon what I have seen so far this year:

  • our method of defence and contest are good.
  • Our clearance work is not yet as good as it needs to be
  • forward pressure and locking the ballin our half has been good
  • skills on transition is an area for improvement
  • when we get two key forwards back, things will really accelerate.

i think if we can bank some ‘average’ wins, stay under the radar and keep the mindset positive and switched on, we can build across the season.  I think the swans will be ‘March premiers’ and will run out of gas throughout the year.

so for today, a workmanlike win with improved aspects of play across the day will be all I want.  30-45 points to feel relaxed, but I’ll still sing the song if we win by a point.

Maybe Max could spend most of his time up fwd

one of those no win games whhich we often lose

Hopefully a regulation injury free 30 point win... wouldn't that be nice for a change

11:20am here in wet rainy qld. What is the correct time to start pre game beers? Don't want to peak too soon and be asleep by game time  ? ??

They have to be hungry for some success.

Bring the pressure.

All our lines are good, May and lever, Viney and Oliver, Kossie and Tom.

It has been a while since I could say that.

No more words, time for action.

First to the ball, clean use and minimise the unforced errors.

Go Dees.

All good, but we must play with MONGREL.

We should win this but like others have mentioned I’m still not sold that I can trust us.....yet!

GWS were awful last week and are missing 2 important players from that team. We get them after they played in 30c heat, long haul flight back from Perth, 1 day less preparation than us.

What could possibly go wrong ?

GWS have two key players injured early in the game.....

Magnificent morning here in Canberra. I'm wondering the same thing re beers. My sister and her family are on the road on their way here. Their eta is 1pm...I might check to make sure the beers are drinkable around noon.

Went for a ride this morning to work off some pre-match nerves, it really is a superb autumn day.

Trying uoad a photo and keep getting a server error code: -200 whatever that means.

For anyone who thought the game was at 7 10 PM (yeah me) its actually at 6 10 as daylight savings ended.   One less hour to wait for the game start.  :)

Midday seems respectable to me

Hopefully giants rock up at half time.

GWS list doesn’t worry me anymore. Our midfields match up but either end of the ground we look much stronger. The only way we lose this is we don’t turn up to play. GWS by 187 points.

Fritsch 3.4

T McDonald 4.5

Petracca 2.4

These three fellas must start converting

Unfamiliar ground isnt going to help unfortunately but you would think they have been taking shots at goal ALL week.2

Not sure to make of GWS.  Looked good against the Swans in the pre-season, then have been pretty ordinary once the real season started.  Still have some serious star power so I don't think it'll be a walk in the park.

T Mac to kick 6 goals.

Did Melb fly up this morning or last night with a dreadful  24 hour wait.

Its a quick flight. Some players would spend more time cramped up in their cars in Melb traffic jams.

I would have flown up mid morning.

Pretty sure it was yesterday afternoon.  Max said in the video of support they sent to the AFLW side that they'd be watching in the airport.  That match was yesterday arvo.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
