Well, we aren't fitter, so if that was our ace-in-the-hole, it's a bust. As for the basics, we can't tackle, can't kick and can't mark.

Anyone notice how many big, fit, strong, young blokes the Dogs have?

5 touches to Vandenberg. Another one whose cooked. Even Bowey picking up more disposals

12 days for concussion so he should be ok

12 days would take us to about 5.30pm Saturday 20th. Our game starts at 1.45pm on that day.

Reckon he'd miss if it was concussion.

not just missing tackles not even attempting to lay them.

Same Lazy BS as last year and before anyone says it, doesn't matter whos playing or what we are playing for the basics of the game are still the basics

Haven't been able to watch any of this one.  Are there any positives at all coming out if this?  What's the score btw?

If the situation was reversed and we had our full strength midfield and you took out daniel, mcrae, bont and dunkley, you'd expect the result to be 6-7 goals.  Its about right given the talent out there.

Unfortunately, its about where our depth sits.  Our 16th-22nd player is essentially making up numbers again it seems.

Demonlanders won’t have any issues finding new whipping boys off the back of this performance to replace Omac. Goodwin will be high on that list

We can not and will not defend against teams who short kick to maintain possesion.

Making Tim English look like a leviathan of the game, FMD.

Our disposal has not improved one iota.

Our Forward line and entry into the F50 is just pathetic.

Playing for draft picks again.

Wonder what Goodwin will say in post match presser

LEARNINGS ??

Surely May will be ok for round 1. He walked off. Didn’t seem like he was out cold. Should be fine.

No...Well one positive is Melbourne will win me more money this year as I bet against them every game.

TBF if they even do judge it like that it's only out by a matter of hours. Incredibly unlucky if it happens.

The Dogs have dominated the whole game.  Sure hands and nice finishing everywhere.  We have scrounged a few goals but the Bulldogs have just played at a higher level from the start.  We are not going to finish in the top 4.

I suppose this means Oliver is going to Carlton ?

Vandenberg, Baker, Tomilnson, Jetta, Jordan, Sparrow, Hunt, Bedford not up to it.

Bedford short pass on boundary hard into Harmes who doesnt run hard enough at it and is punched away from him. Harmes tells bedford kick was F****.  It was a beauty.

EFFORT is non negotiable regardless of who’s in or out of the side.

Geez, these threads are a cesspool for the complete and utter donkeys.

Goodwin interview on the list demand for higher achievements & more than just making finals ... let’s c if he’s still there after round 10 based on this performance .., sure practice game but feeling is we are still way off any top side

i saw that too

harmes really comes across as a terribly arrogant footballer for someone who is fairly ordinary in the grand scheme of things

+1   ....

I've already put a few bucks on Freo at juicy odds. I think the odds with shorten after today's deplorable performance.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
