At least women will be invited there.

PS when is this event bring organised?

How come we have to move the function when McCain can still sell “Man Size” frozen dinners!? I demand an inquiry

So the point easily missed is women were never ever going to be excluded from the event as the club allows female guests but denies female memberships much as some clubs deny male membership.

Another non-issue made into an issue thewn re-issued.

Or is the point that has been easily missed that women should not have to tip their hat for permission to participate in community events according the whims of an ancient and venerable bastion of quite explicit chauvanism?

Even symbolically.

Anyway, the very easy adjustment has been made and you can take your little teacup and it's little storm and sip it till you burst.

The majority of "consumers" want woke-leftism politics to keep the hell away from sport. It is the tiny minority of loud mouthed virtue signallers who demand every organisation kowtow to their leftardism who make this an issue when it is not.

Like I said, it's nothing more than pissweak pandering, but you guys can celebrate your victory. Good for you. ?

we need Money and Land from The State  Government so it was not smart to rock the boat

The ABC is reporting on a coterie group holding its season launch at the male-only Australia Club.

"The event, promoted on the group's social media page, is being held on March 9, the day after International Women's Day.

Featured guests on the night will include Melbourne Football Club president Glen Bartlett and former AFL players Gary Pert, Mark Williams, Adem Yze, Alan Richardson and Garry Lyon."

They've also highlighted the recent change to Bartlett's title, which is seemingly at odds with the choice of venue.

"The Australian Club, established in 1878, excludes women from membership, but has in recent years allowed female guests to visit.

Last month, Fox Sports reported Glen Bartlett's title at Melbourne Football Club had been changed from chairman to president following feedback from female members."

Thoughts? Is it all much ado about nothing, or does it send the wrong signal?

Are you seriously suggesting that holding a question and answer in a room that permits male and women quests, but only male members would have the potential to cost us Government support?

What a ridiculous overreaction. I can't believe you mean what you are saying.

Freudian slip?

wonder what it cost the coterie/club to break the booking at the last minute?

I hope the loss stays with them and they get it right next time dc.

You haven’t been reading the responses by the wider Community in Melbourne.
The venue was severely frowned upon.

I have been a Member of the MCC since 1982, back then The MCC Reserve was Men Only

I thought it was great, but it wouldn’t survive today. The pendulum has swung, as i said before, whether you or i like it Faulty.
The AFLW has seen to that. (I don’t watch it, but the younger generation does)

You and I may think it is an overreaction, but that is irrelevant

We have to play the game, if we want some new elite Training Facilities

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
