several months?!? ... so much for back running in 4 weeks as mentioned by Richo.

Wonder I'd they've mixed that up with Weideman?

The injury is about 1/2 weeks old and 6/7 weeks will make it about early April and 8 weeks as in the HS article on Majak Daw.

It was advised  running is expected to commence about halfway through.Ie 4 weeks. When BB was injured and operated on.

Where does it say anywhere or refer to any  alteration of running commencement or any extra surgery ?

BUT somehow 2 D/L ers are all in a tizz about his expected 8 weeks out.with  2 drama queen negative comments and ideas that there are changes with BB's injury schedule. I refer to Bris De and Dcutter!.

We are always upset by injuries but it does not help with wild off the cuff posts   Which are not even mentioned and lead to further negativity for others to Have to Read.

If there is any change the Club would be all over it and the HS accordingly informed as would our website!!

What a complete overreaction, wild and off the cuff? Settle down drama Queen as you so politely put it ....

I just reported was in the paper, we were advised by the MFC a couple of months, the word several is the concerning word reported.

Let's await any Club  info and not overreact to a one line report as an add on to another news item in the news media.

Standard Melbourne FC. There’s a reason MFCSS exists, and it’s entirely warranted unfortunately.

Surely that 4 weeks was when he started running again, not playing at his optimal level.
so not much changed

That's what I understood.  No way to stop the doomsayers from doomsaying.

When did the club ever say that? There was no way of knowing how long it would be until he had the surgery and the only time frame I’ve ever seen from the club is 4 weeks until he’s back running.

He has a bad knee, it was never going to be a super quick recovery. Whether he’s out until round 2 or round 6 is probably dependent on what happens when he starts running again.

I don't remember the exact language used, but is it possible that the club meant 4 weeks from the beginning of the season proper?

Ben’s availability for selection will be determined on how well he responds to the rehab program. We are very confident though that we can build Ben back to full fitness and we will see him in action during the early rounds of the season.

“We anticipate Ben will be in a position to commence running four weeks following surgery.“

——————————

A general rule is ready to play after the same time training as off legs. Which is another month, so early April which is the early rounds of the season. Rounds 2-3 might’ve become 4-5 but that’s still in line with the reported timeline.

today is 2 weeks. 4 weeks is 1st march which is almost 3 weeks before round 1 (20th March)

making round 1 unlikely, but round 2 a good possibility.

now saying round 4 to 6!

what changed?

In answer to your question: Nothing.

Feb 4 plus weeks is Feb 18, not today (sorry to quibble over 1/2 a week).  But I think that pushes your range to "round 2 unlikely, but 3 a possibility". Round 3 is not much different to round 4.  And you have him regaining match fitness etc faster than most would assume.  So 4 -6 was always on the cards.

Nothing changed dc but you well know the second language kicked in early on.

Oh come on Sue. Not the dreaded 4-6. I didn't realise it was career over.

They could probably rush him to round 2 with no match practice but he probably won't be able to run out the game very well, which probably hurts the side even more than if he missed the game - particular if we cop an injury or 2 during the game.
