Ben Brown at training moving well  also completed 4 time trials  and I assume it was for all coming back for the official  start .

That is a good sign.

Fraser Rosman must have forged his birth cert! He looks 28 rather than 18.

Big lad.

I doubt that very much... as I understand it, he is relatively new to the game and was taken due to his natural athletic prowess.  In some ways he is a project player, so I'd be a little surprised to see him get a game at all this year.

Between the virus and training at Casey these reports are now full of nothing. How I long for the reports from Goschs.
information this year is close to zero and March seems forever away in the distance.

well I guess there is the Washington circus to watch.

In his interview Ben Brown said the deck was immaculate and the gym facilities top notch. Covid or no covid I think the team should be training in Casey.

Knee still heavily bandaged. Hopefully just a precaution.

He’s going to be a brute. Hopefully we can develop his skills to match the physique. If we do he’ll be a serious weapon.

God I can’t wait to see BBB snaffling marks in the fwd 50! (And slotting them). What a difference a proven goal kicker will make for us, those games we get on top in the midfield and backline but either can’t take a mark or turn a mark into a goal. 2-3 more wins based off of BBB alone in expecting*.

*I expected us to be top 4 the last 2 seasons as well...

But are we allowed in LH. Nothing on the site which you probably already know. Site has not changed since they went on holidays.

I recall reading somewhere on DL that we can watch from outside the ground to ensure there is no contact with players.  I saw a game there about 5 years ago and a 'cyclone fence' defines the ground so is transparent.  Again, iirc it is about 20m from the oval fence so a fair amount of training, who is in rehab etc should be visible.  Not sure if that configuration has changed in recent years.

So I would be happy to venture down occasionally, have a peep and report back to fellow, news-starved DL's but I would like to know when sessions are so I can plan the trip.  Wouldn't be much fun to trek down there and it be the wrong day.

If anyone had a schedule that would be extra good.

I won't be surprised either. Looks like he is leading the running group from that picture.  if we can have a 194cm running machine on the one wing and Langdon on the other it would be great.  he may need to work on things but having the athletic ability and body is a major step.

runs 2km in 5:52! and in the top 10 for the sprint at the combine.  a great mark. will be good to have him as a release kick from the back and not always rely on Gawn

I wont be surprised on the basis that the second wing role is clearly the most open role for contention in our starting 18 with no clear front runner.

I have a good feeling about Rosman his highlights were very good but nothing will prepare us to his ability until he takes the field whether in the VFL or AFL, training is always a guide but there is no pressure and tackling that happens in the real thing, he has the athletic attributes of wingman but only time will tell if he has the football nous to read the play and position himself to get the football.

Jack Dyer once said "if you don't get the ball you can't kick it"

I'm not sure of the training schedule but I went to training during the first lockdown last year and you can see everything through the cyclone fence. There were several people watching from outside the ground.

A lot of people getting carried away here on the basis of this boys' running ability and height. Don't forget we already have one of these on the list who came in very experienced, holds the 2km time trial record at his old team and has a brute 194cm mature physique. So far he's failed on the wing he was brought in to play on.

This kids a raw project player. He could be an upgrade on Isaac Smith or he could be a Tomlinson. Time will tell. Of course like everyone I hope it's the former but lets get a bit of reality here.

Image captured on Wednesday, probably needs Vagg's surveillance device from the DL drone to sharpen it, but it 'appears' that there were a couple of bystanders on the cyclone fence.

I have advocated elsewhere for TMac and Jackson to be tried as running wingmen.

TMac has the tank but not sure about his skills for the wing and Jackson has the size and speed to play well.

Let's try them all out including Rosman. I can see it in the practice matches - four wingmen playing on each other in various combinations to find the best combination. Imagine having three (Langdon plus 2 others) in the 22 to rotate and fill other roles such as back up to Gawn. Hard for other teams to match.

Wonder if they trained today?. About to go into a 3 day lock down up here in Brissie and not much to do. Pity no one can give any info on the training as club certainly aren't doing much.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
