Hey so I know about all the points stuff (kinda went real deep just before Mahoney did his best work to get Oliver way back when) BUT...

In no way does 12 = 26 + 33

Higher picks are worth more than two middling if you know what you are doing when drafting and recruiting.

This points discussion amongst fans has got beyond cute - it’s now pretty dumb.

Think the points discussion applies to the specific Ugle-Hagan situation that the Dogs find themselves in this year. Otherwise I tend to agree with you, that higher picks are worth more than two middling, especially so if you are  trying to add the icing to the list and not starting a major rebuild.

Don't disagree with anything that has been said - but prior to the trade period I remember some saying having a few picks in the 20s/30s isn't such a terrible thing in a compromised year - there will be a few diamonds in the rough.

Having said that, I think we are looking to trade up the order to get the player we want or use the picks to fill the positions that need to be filled (wing, small forward, backup ruck etc)

George Hewitt is on the trade table. worth a look?

is he a quick left footed winger with good kicking skiils.  If not...pass

TMac and vandenBerg (or one of them and a pick) worth enough?

Is it Hewitt or Dawson that is an absolutely brilliant field kick. I get those 2 mixed up.

Hewitt was an absolute best 22 until this year. Was he injured or fell out of favour?

Can anyone clarify please?

With respect to comments about bundling pick 33 plus ??  to the doggies for an upgrade,  is that even allowed?

The 33 we just received from Adelaide was originally the Doggies pick.

Not sure why he's on the table mate, the Swans fans i know are shocked, they rate him as one of their best young talents.

Happy to flick one of our second rounders up there to grab him.

Injured apparently this year.

Dawson the better kick (left footer).

Hewitt a run with player who's been able to find the ball. Neat user without being top notch. He had back surgery this year, which is why he didn't play the full season.

Dawson is the good kick and future gun IMO. He's not up for grabs and if he was, we'd be going hard.

Hewitt is more a lockdown mid who wins inside ball sometimes. I'd pass as he doesn't fill a need for us.

Apparently it's (yet another) salary dump kinda deal. Swans pretty tight on their cap.

Dawson

Hewitt is a tagger and not much else. Pass.

Don't the Dockers have a couple of highly rated kids in the NGA, wonder if they are willing to part with pick 12

Wait and see if it's even correct too!

Maybe so, but what do YOUR sources say?

This has been rumored for a while now. JM stated we wanted to move up the draft board this year. Doggies need points to take their player who will go number 1. We apparently like Macraes younger brother and are targeting 14 to get him. Rumors are it'll happen, and makes sense considering all the picks we've acquired in the 20-30-40 range now.

Yeah, saw that about 40 mins ago, or was it fb? Can't remember. Was hoping we'd go for 10 or lower

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
