Oh god, it's incredible isn't it. i guess the difference is my information doesn't come from facebook and bigfooty for whatever difference that makes.

I've said here multiple times where my information comes from, how about you tell us about your source?

Offered you a truce once before, you continued with your trolling. Not interested in sending you a PM thanks.

Have a good one.

I mentioned a couple of days ago and the whispers will not go away. TMac/AVB package to GWS.

Not  really solid info.

Seems consistent with our desire to move up the draft order.

Serious question - is that what you’ve heard?

I rate Mahoney - I’d be disappointed if this is the case.

He's applied for the Essendon Head of Football job

Updated info for those interested :) if not please ignore.

  1. A few clubs have come knocking about Angus Brayshaw again, nothing doing at this stage, but watch this space. they've also asked about Christian Salem and been told a flat no.
  2. there will be a few players in brand new roles in 2020, one in particular is James harmes who will have a role imv much more suited to him
  3. I still believe Tom McDonald will end up at Essendon for 2021 as a key defender.
  4. several clubs in addition to those reported are interested in Neville Jetta.
  5. as mentioned by others there are several mature age players that are being shopped around to other clubs, there is a clearing of the decks going on.
  6. Brayden Ham is a player of interest for us and has been for a while
  7. Nathan Jones has been told there is a real possibility he won't play a game in 2021. he's essentially been retained as an assistant coach, and to also provide some depth in case of an injury. my information is he won't play unless required to play as a midfielder.

Can already imagine Mahoney and Dodoro fighting over trade negotiation tactics

In summary:

Essendon want ALLLLLLL the players

Mahoney: Lets offer them our 1st rounder and ask for a 2nd back

Dodoro: That's a thought. Or, now bear with me hear, we ask for their player AND their first round pick. ALPHA DOG!!

If that’s the case, he should not be in charge of our trade strategy.

I reiterate... Only whispers but I understand that these two plus swap of picks to move up the draft.

Ham would be a very interesting get with upside. Very slight, but has a bit of dash and low dart left foot.  I'm surprised the bombers aren't offering him a contract. In a good side, he could be a bit of an x factor. Then again, the bombers probably arent a good side next year.

They should reduced free agency period and trade week period to just be a week. Stop drawing the [censored] out and just get it done. If they want to drive excitement, then that's how to do it. When it's dragged out, we all tune out.

They do all the maneuvering in the previous weeks anyway. Make everything a single week, so that clubs have time for dominoes to fall for deals 2 and 3.

I reckon they drag it so that fox footy and sen get 2 weeks of clicks on rubbish articles.

The AVB rumours make sense with Mahoney mentioning Baker, Hunt, Tomlinson & Harmes but not AVB for the wing role

Hypothetical: Clubs may have more of an idea of what's happening than what has been reported in the media. Mahoney, for all his faults, is quite often ahead of the curve with trading/drafting changes. What if we're finding a way to get ourselves 2 higher picks because the AFL will reduce the 3 draftees minimum rule?

We don't need picks this year we need some good ready to go players

Are we not in the premiership window?

Get a winger a  small smart forward and maybe a small defender

Picks in a S$%t draft is just wasting time in my opinion

Pretty rough on all fronts. 30K - 50K new cases a day, and it's no longer abstract. 2 of the 3 in our household have had a week's isolation waiting for test results after being in prolonged contact with Covid cases. Scary and unsettling. Now all locked down again, all work cancelled, smallish govt $$ handout, but not the same. People generally struggling (mentally), and heading into winter isn't helping. Sorry to be so gloomy. As for riding, limited to 1 km radius/1 hour. But still better than last time where there was no riding at all, so I'm managing to knock myself around riding up and down suburban streets.

Where in France?

Not gloomy.  While our case load has been minuscule in comparison, here in Melbourne we understand some of what you describe with the lockdown conditions. Best wishes to you and yours, bing.

I really hope Nev Jetta remains a one club player.

I’d be very upset to see him traded, even if his best may be slightly behind him.

He’s an important player for us, culturally and in terms of leadership.

That's exactly why they extended it - to keep AFL in the media spotlight for longer into the off-season. The irony is, by dragging it out, they make it more dull and kill the interest. For me personally, I was hyped for off-season, but with free agency running for a while and now trade week, I've already stopped tuning in and will just check here next week for news and opinions.

Same thing goes for draft night. Having it split across two nights is ridiculous. These are kids that 99% of people have never even heard of. This isn't a US sport like NBA where college sports are popular and the kids are older etc. It's just stupid. I think I read they were changing it back to one night this year? If so, good.

I've not heard much inside goss since before off-season this year. All I know is we are trying to get up the draft order a bit this year and want TMac off the books.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
