Just heard a snippet from Jon Ralph on fox sports news.

He said “of the 234 players in the AFL who had over 100 kicks this year Treloar had the 3rd worst kick rating. The stat takes into account degree of difficulty. He also kicked just the one goal. Collingwood believe he just does not hurt opposition enough”

This is why Collingwood want rid. For the money he commands that’s a horrible stat.

We need to bring in midfielders that elevate our kicking efficiency not drag it down further. It’s a big NO from me.

I wonder what’ that stat was like before they’re signed him on a 5 year mega deal. He has never been a damaging kick.

600k and a second rounder Tom Browne is saying. I have no info on if that is true just that he is out of collingwood.

Getting closer to my $400-$500 and pick 50.

The $ 900K a year is misleading. Several journo's have pointed out he is owed money by the club for previous seasons which inflates his wage. In order to assist the club and manage its  bulging cap he has heavily backhended his contract. My read on this is the money they are offering to pay of the $ 900K is money owed not the base cost of his contract which may be more manageable which is why they don't want to part pay his contract for its length just the first year. I suspect some dodgy accounting

So a player accommodates a club and adjusts his contract and when the money is owed they shaft him. Definitely fertile ground for a legal team.

LOL!  I suggested earlier in this thread that Eddie talks to his lawyers.  Legal issues with how they have handled this could be seen a mile away.

Hope Adam sues them.  There are various fronts on which he could lay claim.

It will never get to a legal situation as the AFL and Players Association will solve it. Whatever happens here, Treloar will get paid in full.

He played 10 games and it was a bad year.  But he's had very good years, including 2016, 2017 and 2019 when he finished top 3 in their B&F.

He only kicked one goal this year, but let's not overlook years where he kicked 12, 13, 14, 13, 13, 12 and 10.  They're very good goal kicking numbers for a midfielder.

This year his D/E went at 60%, which is horrible.  But over his career his D/E is 70.4%, which is fine.

So, do we think the season just gone is the outlier, or the rest of his career ?

Maybe Tom Mac and pick 80 would get us Treloar and Phillips, with Pies paying a large chunk of Treloar’s 5 year contract. They are in a real mess and their players will be watching this very closely, as to how AT is being treated. This is a real culture killer atm.

We think aside from a great turn of speed, he is a fairly ordinary footballer who runs harder forward than he does back. A problem that was highlighted within our midfield not so long ago.

His biggest weakness is his inability to lower his eyes, spot free players and hit them. Bombing long to contests won't hurt his D/E so I can't for the life of me understand why posters use it as a means of talking about how good or bad a player's kick is. There is no measure or stat that reveals how many free targets a player ignores when going to kick.

Aside from his speed, we have a plethora of midfielders who share similar weaknesses and unless we got him at an absolute bargain as far as both trading and contract go, I would be gobsmacked if we were considering going hard for him.

If we want him we'll need to clear midfield cap space - that means Brayshaw or maybe Harmes traded.

Fair points particularly bnf placings.

Last year was so weird and unnatural, hub life and all the rest of it so perhaps you could argue its just an outlier. But it was a big drop-off! You’d want to be pretty sure it won’t repeat considering the outlay involved and all the other factors to be resolved to make this happen.

I just don’t think he adds a whole more than we already have. We have greater needs. I'd rather we focus on those than get distracted by the Treloar circus.

I guess if the player gets paid then there isn’t anything about breaching any rules directly but I still feel like the Pies should be answering to the AFL’s integrity unit for some kind of salary cap manipulation that is against the spirit of the game. I mean it’s like buying a Porsche for 80k and only paying off 20,000 for the first few (and it’s best) years then handing it to someone else expecting them to pay the rest when it’s deprecated in value.

It’s really wrong and I’m now back on the bandwagon that Treloar should be staying put and the pies should be paying him what THEY promised him.

According to trade radio, Collingwood are also looking at moving on Mason Cox whose contract is heavily back ended and said to be $600,000 for next season. Got themselves in a bit of a pickle.

He could also ruin us.

Media saying he has a 5 year contract starting at $900k per year the first couple and the last few at “well over” a $1m a year. He apparently sacrificed salary on his previous contract, to get make up in this contract. Now Pies have changed their mind and don’t want to honour it.

This is not only a culture killer for the Pies, but possibly also at any new club he goes to.

This is getting very hard and I would walk away from any involvement. We have enough problems of our own. This is without even considering other issues Adam has in his life and even in his game.

I wish him the best,  most likely staying at the Pies. Whatever happens, he will get all his money and so he should.

Now onto Phillips or whoever else we are looking at, without excess baggage.

I'd argue that one of our biggest problems is spread from the midfield.  Opposition clubs know that if they match us in the contest they can get us on the outside.

Guess what Treloar excels at ?

Yes i hope Adam digs his heels in

The Filth owe him a lot of money

Clearly, no other club is taking over his contract in its current form.

our biggest midfields'  problem is Viney and Oliver fighting each other for the ball

Our midfield sets up like schoolboy footy

Must be fixed

Butchering his kicks?

Is that the level of your analysis ?

If true that Treloer wants to spend several day every week up in Q to be with his missus then I question his commitment. Not what we need and dumb to take him on his terms.

He’s a good player and depending on cost would bring him in.

Also would be fine letting Collingwood sit and twist.

If the filth took on all of McDonald's contract, then I'd be happy for us to take on all of Treloar's contract for the first two years (length of Tom's contract). But for years 3-5 Collingwood should be forced to pay the money that's owed and we just cover what his base contract was supposed to be.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
