Typical example of young bloke who gets in the right position to get the pill. If he keeps getting it next year he will be shadowed.

Love to see him groomed for the midfield during preseason. If so should we take the risk and trade Brayshaw / Harmes (still in contract) for a low second round pick in which we could use among our other picks in targeting a key forward or young outside mid?

He's a wagon alright!!

"“He never gives up and has an incredible wheel to keep fighting until the end.”"

I’d like to see Rivers stay in his half back role in 2021 or move up to a wing if needed.  He’s got the skills, pace and intensity to make a really good half back and use his rebound to setup play forward of the footy.  Certainly great signs for his future and I’m glad we extended his contract.

One of the good news stories of the season.

Looked the goods right from his very first quarter of footy V's Carlton.

Pretty impressive for a 7 or 8 gamer to kick the sealer against GWS in the manner he did.

Can't wait to seen him wheeled out next season.

dont even think that...you'll be wishing some rare  career threatening foot or knee injury on him.

Apart from the ‘wheel’ error is there any chance they could revise where Egan says ‘VFL’ to say scratch matches. There was no VFL and might never be again

Interesting read and pleased that he is seen as more than just a back flanker and potentially another running mid who has a long penetrating kick. Still eligible for the Risng star next year but then so is Rowell.

Said that in my posts and have no doubt about it.

Just so impressed by his performances this year; he was tenacious, hard-at-it, fast and skillful.
He looked like he believed he belonged out there from his very first match.

Don't think anyone would have batted an eyelid if this was the first handful of games from a first round.

Sorry I left off "Of West Coast"

is that betterer?

:roos:

Im sure someone on here can correct me if im wrong, but it is about time we got a steel 'gun' player (ala Tim Kelly) from the 2nd round.

I agree with this. Give him one more year in Half Back to develop the reading and flow of the game. THen decide on whether he stays there or develops an engine to rotate on the wing / midfield.

Early impressions are fantastic.   Shows composure and 'football smarts' beyond his years.  Add in his skill set, courage, attitude and appetite for the contest and we. have a great prospect.  Maximise it Dees!

Loveing our Riv's?

I wonder if he had not been ill during last year with glandular fever, would he have gone much earlier in the draft?

This has to be a big tick for Jason Taylor ?

His talents run very deep .

Bit wet behind the ears to start with, but all downstream from here.

Came highly recommended from a friend in WA, who says when the WEagles aren't playing he follows the Dees, because of LJ and Riv. (i believe they both hail from the same WA team...that was really smart recruiting)

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!
