Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Thought he had a good season. There were no headless chook runs this season. One-on-one was very good and used the short kick to advantage. He and Sicily combined well. Amazing what proper coaching can do.

Presumably that includes game plan.

So one minute you say we're going backwards and the next you concede we're going forward.

Sounds like you don't know whether Melbourne or yourself are coming or going.

Sounds like the hotel quarantine enquiry.

Tell that to all our BnF winners and place getters when we sitting at or near the bottom of the ladder for most of this century.

Sam was voted one of Hawks' three 'Most Valuable Players' by team mates.  That is a pretty good accolade.  He must be doing a lot right.

I wasn't giving our BnF winners from poor teams a back hander, just giving some context to Melbourne finishing to 9th compared to Hawthorn finishing 17th. Hibbo and Lever finished 9th and 11th, would you put Frost above them in votes?

We were lacking a Half-Back or 2 this year, Smith and Harmes were not great, but hoping we have that sorted next season.

an interesting point raised early in the thread of a chaotic style.  Coaches always talk about i just want players to play their role - e.g. consistent and play within set parameters.  Chaotic styles wouldnt seem to mesh with this.  Still i did miss the chaos Frosty attack on the footy, although are we any worse off for not having it.

Sone of us always knew - from what we saw over time - that he was going to be an adept player. Onyer, Frosty.

Congrats to Frost but him finishing in their bnf votes (I read he finished 8th not 7th btw) doesn't mean much to me. If you compare their top 8 vote winners to ours you'll see a difference in caliber of players.

The bottom line was Frost wanted more opportunity as a best 22 backman. I don't believe he would have found that had he stayed at Melbourne. I don't think we missed him this year with the backline performing strongly and consistently most of the year.

Oscar played 7 times this year yes but I feel it was mostly due to matchups or injuries to other players. Oscar will now be most likely going elsewhere in similar fashion. The makeup of our backline clearly has some set structure and Frost wasn't going to be a part of it, at least not full time. Mid sized players like Hibberd, Smith, Rivers seem more likely to get a spot alongside the two talls. Tomlinson has become an adequate third tall and looks like he might settle there with his versatility to move up the ground a nice addition up Goodwins sleeve. There's a chance Petty and maybe even Brown could be used as our tall back depth next season as well especially if we're looking to bring in another tall forward.

Glad Frost found a home but not missing the thrill/anxiety of the Frost ball.

Wasn’t it lovely to see Whorethorn down near the bottom of the ladder and that smug Frawley and that dollar-chasing $cully in the team, with Frawley turning it over and looking slow like he was with us. Now that the elite players in the team have gone or are past it Frawley looks like the Frawley of old. Frost had a few good games though!

In my view this result  vindicates the "Blunder" of letting him go when we did. I saw enough of him in HAWKS games to say that his "Percieved"  deficiencies have been eradicated to a greater degree and he played some good solid football. Its interesting to see what coaches that know how to get the best out of players do so. I reckon though, that Sam Frost will continue to improve not dissimilar to Bachar Houli when he went from Essendon to Richmond. If that happens then the blunder in letting him go will be even more pronounced and damning. I  Was disappointed to see him leave Melbourne and even more so now!

So were many others like myself. What makes it hard is his position was  taken by Joel Smith  now isn't  that  a joke.

We won't make finals with Joel in the side if he is in our best 22. FFS.

Anyone who rates him doesn't know much about the game and that goes for the coach as well..

My cat watches the footy and when he sees him on TV he hisses at him.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
