The last one was just as much Lever, a free run as third man up and missed the ball.

100% this. Does this often too

Goodwin at HT said we needed to be brave with the ball, not boring.

Either he didn't tell the players that, or they just were unwilling or incapable of trying it.

We didn't appear to even try to move the ball anywhere other than down the wing.

Just before the second Walters goal, Gawn took consecutive intercept marks. Both times, the only place he properly looked was the wing. Both times, he kicked to Pickett.

Our ball movement plan tonight has been appalling, absolutely appalling.

Yes I was screaming at him to switch play although on TV you can only assume there is someone there but this is MFC so no guarantee on that. The wife came in to see why I was yelling by the way! Dumb football, yes we may have 30 dumb footballers but I am looking at the coach!

I know hes only young but if Pickett cant take those chances when they come hes not going offer much. Missed 2 early against the Dogs as well and it jist kills us.

Spends it too soon.

Goodwin has trashed Paul Roos' legacy at the Dees

Roos chose Goodwin as his successor.

Smith 2 disposals, 0 marks, 1 tackle.

Hibberd 4 disposals, 0 marks, 0 tackles.

Bedford 4 disposals, 1 tackle.

PIckett 5 disposals, 1 tackle.

Hunt 6 disposals, 0 tackles.

Hibberd was limping at the end of the third term.  Should never have played.

OMG. Just checked the scores for the first time.

What a horrible score in another “must win” game.

Risk and kick out only to to kick it to a 170cm forward?‍♂️

Have a good summer folks. See you in 2021 for what is probably us on the decline ready for the next rebuild.

There is no promise in this team. Nothing.

No upside when nobody can kick.  Diabolical recruiting.

Rivers is a nice one to start the rebuild with though.

I can’t believe none of our mids have received a fee for being held before taking possession when they have received plenty when in control of the ball and it spills out. Double standards

a team with the season on the line and this is what we dish up

For the 2nd time in 2 weeks we play a bottom 5 side and get comprehensively outcoached  outclassed and well beaten.

Good job Simon. If you had any integrity you would resign straight after this game.

And don't forget 2017 v collingwood who were 14th. We didn't lay a tackle inside the first 20 minutes we anted the win so bad.

Hoges still has that Melbourne DNA ?

Take risks... Frittata down the line to Gawn 3 on 1 on the boundary.

If I rolled my eyes anymore they’d fall back into my head.

Serong 17 touches 5 tackles. Shame we traded the pick away and took Pickett. Going to hurt that trade

Stop with the excuses.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
