CHANGES: Rd 13 vs Bulldogs

Smart to get Gawn absolutely cherry ripe now, let him be as close to full fitness as possible for a run at the finals.ย

very confident we have everything we need to beat the doggies tomorrow. they haven't been in great formย

Tipping a big return to form for Tommy and Sammy to finally get a bag and kick 6ย

ย

Phheeew, how quickly Pruessy has become indispensable*.
ย

* until Max is fit but you may think about Pruess staying on and Tmac having a rest.ย

The Smith experiment is finished.

To me it was either forward or bust and unfortunately it's looking bust for Smith.

Disagree. While he is clearly not best 22,ย he has some ability and ย every side needs some backup players ย to coverย injuries.
I have several players marked for leaving the list at yearโ€™s end and he is not one of them. HOWEVER, backup players arenโ€™t kept forever, so depending on list makeup and sizeย over the next year or so, you may end up correct and he could be gone, if he is not seen as a required player.ย

I'm sick to death of our ruckmen, and good players they are for us as well, getting kneed in the back and fended out of contests.

The umpires to their credit have picked up on this and are now starting to pay some frees off the ball. However one of the things they will need to pick up on in this game is not all on ballers like the Bont are clean. There are a couple of the Scragger boys who have been around for a while who play like their parent used too.....ย

Out of the 3 options of Gawn vsย Preuss vs neither, I'll happily settle for this result.

No Tommy is getting better each week.

Last Sat vs Pies was two clunksaway from a 3 goal gsme as well as handy ruck back up with some physicality and round the ground assistance.ย

Pruessy has to be No 1 if he plays and that's fine fir tomorrow.ย

Tommy needs the run fitness and is handy in key positions and on the ball.

Harsh on Smith I reckon. ย He had played a handful of games. A few fwd thenย injured, then a few back.ย

heย had enough attributes to persevere with. He at least needs a run of game fwd before we give up on him.ย

Only some games and scratch matches as a forward please.ย

The 'running' side we pick will be interesting - and that, more than anything will beat the Doggies at this stage of proceedings. I'd like to see just that little bit more mobility in our team to stretch the Bulldogs as far as possible, for as long as possible. Carna Dees!

I'd reckon that a Smith-like forward would blend well and make a good contribution to our forwards and options. I doubt if TMac could suddenly produce theย goods that he used to exhibit.ย

Yea I agree, Tmac looked the closest heโ€™s been all season last week. I think it would be an interesting experiment with BP up forwardย but maybe not the season/current ladder positionย to be doing so.

Good news. Right decision to ensure Gawn is fully recovered given his history with knees.ย
Any idea if English is playing for the Dogs?

Slightly off topic but is it just me that a week feels like an eternity now given weโ€™ve had 4 and 5 day breaks. Feel like forever for this game to come around. But canโ€™t wait ?ย

Gawn still a week away, so in Preuss we trust for another week.

Sensible move to give Gawn another week, the Bulldogs arent that strong in the ruck...English is a good player but he's still light bodied, Preuss should be able to grind him down

21 degs forecast, sunny with low humidity.ย  But the strong westerly is still forecast (32kmh gusting to over 40).ย  That is slightly diagonally across the ground at Metricon.ย  Probably not a great day for Naughton and a fair bit of ground ball to be won.

Now that is the sort of weatherย  forecast i can work with. Love the specificity of the diagonal breeze. I hope kozzie goes to that pocket and Langdon is on the optimal wing.

Top job.

The decision to keep Preuss in for another game, is good for Gawn, therefore good goodย the Dees, butย ย also really good exposure for Preuss himself, to show what he could do if he was no 1 at any Other club. ย If he was to look elsewhere will be a good advert to other clubs. Therefore really good for him.ย
it will guarantee that he goes hard and long. ย Wish him well for tomorrowโ€™sย game

Just glad Preuss was able to get up. Didn't want to have to deal with that headache.ย

Is this confirmed or your ins/outs.

Wouldn't be unhappy with it but also comfortable with no change

I like Sparrow, but this would be my only change as well. And I want Hannan getting further up the groundย like he did early against North.

Bevo certainly didnt exude any confidence in him getting up for this weekend at his presser yesterday.

But he could be playing mind games...

Just heard him on SEN, Iโ€™d say English wonโ€™t play.ย

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demonsโ€™ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.
