Such as? Just because I call it as I see it. You probably look at our list and coach through rose coloured glasses. we came from 4th to 17th to 9-12th. Someone's got to keep us accountable. You'd probably send Oliver to Casey and extend goody's contract.

Yes your claim to fame is that you think Oliver is a great player - genius!

In fairness Spirit those names you raised are a bit cringe to be honest.

Mason Wood for instance is rubbish. Norf supporters will tell you he is a spud. He tested the market last year and got bo bites. In 5 games this years he's averaged 8 disposals per game....  You want Hunt traded, only to then bring in a very soft an average footballer? Don't understand your logic here. The glaring fact is he can't even get a game in one of the worst teams of the year.

Willem Drew is plain and simple and inside mid. Hes someone else who's had a lot of injury issues and hasn't even played a game this year? Who does he get a game in front of Oliver, Petracca, Viney, Brayshaw? again, he's not a need at all and just adds an unbalance to our mid bringing in someone like him.

Cummings I don't rate at all. Only played 5 games in 4 years.. depth at best.

Only one I would look at is definitely Sinclair. 25 years at 92 games so he fits that demographic perfectly. Can play wing and across half back. Adds experience and run. Hoping we're looking at him closely.

For me I hope we are looking at Perryman and potentially Xavier O'Halloran. I was a hupe wrap for XOH in his draft year. Plays very similar to Shaun Higgins.

This is all spot on. Sinclair would be a nice fit. I don't rate cumming either, he was a turnover merchant in the first few games this year,  instead another Giants role player i'd have a look at is Adam Kennedy who seems to be pretty solid defensively and wouldn't cost much at all. I'm not too big on O'Halloran, he was drafted as an inside mid so wouldn't get much opportunity with us. 3 players highest on my want list is Zac Williams, Harry Perryman, and Rory Laird.

Yeah Kennedy is an underrated IMO. Would slot in well down back.

There aren't too many players Spirit looks at from opposition clubs that he doesn't like.  If he had his way, he would turn over the entire list for opposition rejects each off season.

I am surprised people are writing off Shaun Higgins, yes he is old and clearly doesn’t have ages left but his stats for this year are on par if not slightly better than Ed Langdon’s. Not saying I would go after him but I could understand clubs going after him. I think some talent from GWS will again be flushed out from cap issues this offseason would be nice if we could land one of them.

What what? Fall from grace? Did I miss something, because I'm pretty sure this bloke has not been much chop since day dot.

How about this beauty from you? "When we win, we win despite Goodwin, not because of him.

You're not holding anyone to account mate. You're not inside the club. They're not listening to you. You're on a football forum. It's not match committee.

Are you saying Goodwin is a good coach?

And yes, I'm keeping our own fans to account. People saying things like 'Gunston is a worse version of Fritsch', 'Oliver needs to be dropped', 'Goodwin helped Weidemans development by not playing him', talking about kozzie like he is the next cyril rioli.

I remember years ago that Tapscott was going to be our next Hurn, Watts our Riewoldt, Blease our Peter Matera, Bate was our Pavlich, Strauss was our next half back deledio. All of these things were actually said. Yet, when they failed, absolutely no recognition of why they didn't make it. Even to this day.

We need to start acknowledging when players and coaches aren't up to gradeand stop inflating our own players. We're a 17th and 9-12th footy team but talk as if we're top 4. Speaking of which, I believe a thread or topic was started about how we can make top 4. Good God!

I well remember a Supporter crisis meeting years ago at the Bentleigh Club. The sentiment was that of all the problems the Club faced geting  Bates into the senior team was the most pressing. It was with the forgettable  president who didnt go to the first match of the sason as his son had a school camp/family occasion?  He was loudly applauded for being a good family man on that count. The second the public meeting broke up he surrounded himself at the bar with a few stamp lickers so no one could get near him. I cannot remember if Bate came in the next week or not.

Not sure of his contract status, but I’d be targeting Shai Bolton from Richmond.

Can be dangerous as a small/medium forward type, and is proving to be a well rounded midfielder who’s got good pace, skills and creativity. He’s the exact type of player our midfield lacks. He’ll be starved of midfield time as Tigers have stars like Dusty and Cotchin with  injured players like Prestia return.

Could we get him for one of our second rounders?

he's definitely a midfielder not a forward-type these days

when he was in the forward rotation for the tigers he was in and out of the side, and was really inconsistent

since becoming a permanent mid with edwards injured / not in the hub he's been outstanding

he's worth a first round pick to the tiges i would think as he's a vital part of their side and i doubt very much that they'd give him up

Yeah agree with most of this. I was hoping his contract status might mean we can pry him out, but I checked and he's contracted until end of 2021.

He certainly wasn't a gun forward, but he showed enough to suggest he could play there in spurts and be damaging. Most Richmond small forwards have been dropped because they have so many. Rioli, Castagna, Butler, Bolton, Broad, Graham, Baker, Lambert have all played as small forwards and been dropped in the past 12 months. Some have found new roles, some have moved on. Butler was in and out of the team and we've seen what he's done this year when given a consistent run at the Saints! With Prestia and Edwards out, Bolton got his chance in the midfield and has shone.

I think he could be a mid who rests forward and be a constant threat. Kicked 12 goals again already this year. He's got the right balance of inside and outside to his game. He's winning 4 clearances a game, yet also getting on the outside and kicking inside 50 (ave 5 a game). He wins contested ball then uses pace and skills to get on the outside and be damaging, something none of our mids can do IMO. I reckon he'd be the perfect addition to our midfield. I'd give up a late first rounder for him if we had one.

Bolton wont be starved of any mid field time hes turned into a starting mid no matter who returns and is worth more than a second rounder anyway.

He is exactly what we need but that ship sailed 12-18 month ago

Haven't followed him very closely, but Rory Atkins has announced he'll leave Adelaide as an unrestricted free agent this year. Know he's meant to be quick and a decent kick (?), would he be handy depth? I'd see him as an upgrade on players like Jones, vandenBerg, Dunkley and the Wagners.

Anyone followed him more in-depth?

I'd definitely consider it.

He was a solid player the year they made the GF and maybe a change of scenery would rejuvenate him.

Definitely has some leg speed as a winger and decent footskills.

Just saw this too. I haven't followed him much either but as a realistic option at 100 odd games, in his mid 20s and is officially available I'd be very interested

atkins? no thank you - awful user of the ball by foot and soft as butter

norwood and sturt should be fighting it out for his signature

What if I told you he averages the same amount of tackles as vandenBerg, with half as many clangers & turnovers...?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
