Nietschke has been promised a new contract and KK is contracted.

I'd keep Dunkley as he will be cheap.

The Wagner's have had enough time on the list.

Jones will retire

Oscar and Hunt should be delisted.

Oscar McDonald? I'll be pretty disappointed if we delist him with no mature key tall coming in to replace him.

I wouldn't jettison McDonald. The Wagners only count as one because Corey is a rookie. So I'd certainly delist Josh.Jones is interesting, depending how close he comes to getting to 300 games, if he wanted to go on to chase it, I'd offer him a rookie spot for 2021. I'd approach KK with the same deal or come to an agreement and pay him out. This scenario opens up 3 places. Conversations need to be had with Jetta maybe same deal/retire.  That's 4 places freed up on the senior list.I'd like to keep Hunt as he has real speed and Smith for thew same reason.  We can then think about which rookies to keep etc.

the Brayshaw vs Viney comparison urks me a bit to be honest, and i know you're just making a point on out and out quality.

Jack really, is competing with oliver, not Brayshaw.

Gus is more the inside/outside spreader, he adds something to the contest that Jack Doesn't.

Viney and Oliver are both out and out inside bulls.

i think the arguement is really between them, and if the coaches assumptions that both can play in the same team are correct.

All fair point Patches.. in an ideal world they co-exist. Wait and see.

So I read this week that media are saying we should look at trading Preuss, Tmac and possibly Brayshaw. I’d imagine we would get suitors quite easily for all of them. Would we look at trading one, or all or them if the price is right?

We need back-up for Gawn and Brayshaw is too valuable to trade.

TMAC would be the only one i'd let go. A shade of his 2018 self and too slow to keep up with KPF's if he were to go into defence.

They have NFI.  A team needs depth to be successful.  Especially through the eh midfield and at least one high quality backup to the key posts.  All of those trades would be simply ridiculous unless they delivered better against our needs

I tend to agree, depth is critical. I can’t imagine we will continue with a good run of injuries for too long.

This might sound harsh but i would be trying to convince KK to retire for the good of his health. Frees up another spot on our list and salary cap also.

With the reduced list sizes I dare say he will retire

All this talk about trades when there's only one that will see the most improvement. Out: Goodwin

In terms of draftingand trading, we need some savvy small defenders to replace the ageing hibberd and jetta, as well as more pace in the midfield and another key forward. Realistically we can't do that in one draft

God some of you posters are carrying on like we are a top 4 team. we came 17th last year and are 8th this year with some disgusting performances in that. So a bit of a reality check.

We need good decision makers across the park as well as more speed, a key forward to replace tom McDonald and a small defender to replace jetta.

polec with north paying some of his wage is realistic. williams/hunter is hopeful id imagine at this stage. Tomlinson will go to the wing next season when petty and hore are fit cant see either of them getting the [censored] after watching what OMac and Smith dished up. TMac would suit essendons needs but wouldnt be worth more than a 2nd rounder imo especially on his current deal. Harmes needs to find a place in the side or he risks getting passed and ultimately dropped

i agree re polec and i hope we're all over zac williams as a possible free agent

i dunno about tomlinson going to the wing or harmes - who just signed a whopping five year deal - needing to find a place; the defensive structure is working with them both part of the set-up

i think t mac has looked a bit better and is playing his role but, agreed, we wouldn't get a huge amount for him and not have to contribute to his contract at his new club

Crows are desperate so I reckon they will make Jack Viney a big, big offer at the end of the year.

if they do, would we let him walk? if they offer him "enough" we'd be straight back into the first round as compo value, unless we got williams to negate it

that said...i would not be happy at all if we let him go rather than counter-offering as he's restricted not unrestricted

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
