Interesting that we've been linked to no one so for this year. I think this time last year we had Langdon and Tomlinson that was already on our radar.

With no 1st round pick, I do wonder whether whether we will be quiet in the trade period and focus more in going to the draft.

We have plenty of players out of contract, so we're either re-signing most, or we are looking to the draft and/or signing up a few free agents in the off season.  I still think there will be some turnover, but not necessarily as much as last year.

Yep, and I don't think there has been any announcement on potential list cuts?

Not as yet from what I can tell.

Depending on how the rest of our season pans out, we have an opportunity to cull a few off the list and re-set a little bit if we miss out on finals.  We know the draft will be compromised, but hopefully we can find a few diamonds in the rough.

I'm pretty sure Melbourne is happy with the list at the moment.  We have depth across the board with the possible exception of the ruck.  Could probably do with drafting another project ruck to bring on for five years and there are a few people who will be cut loose, but overall we're looking solid.

We still lack outside polish and another pressure forward. They can be found later in the draft or hopefully with astute trades for players lacking opportunity/go home factor. I cant see us going big at a name even if we had the picks to offer.

St Kilda have shown that recruiting the right type of player in Dan Butler can really change the dynamic of the side. And its not about going out and spending big, but finding that right player. Paul Ross nailed it when we got Jeff Garlett for like pick 60 or so.

I agree with all of these Spirit. Could be win wins for player and club. Preuss for another ruckman unless Bradke is ready to step up.

This might sound harsh but i would be trying to convince KK to retire for the good of his health. Frees up another spot on our list and salary cap also.

One player I wouldn’t mind being linked to is GWS’s Zac Williams for a bit of pace off half-back but he will come at a cost.

Agree.

Is he a free agent? If not it would like take a first round pick to get him.

There is some guy on big footy who recently has said Brayshaw will be at St.Kilda next year. Mentioned he used to play TAC cup with him and speaks to him regularly ( could be complete crap too !! )

There has also been some rumours on afl exchange podcast that Angus might want to go play for Fremantle with Andrew too.

He is contracted for 2 more years, and i wouldn't want to lose him, after he reminded us what he can do on the weekend.

If he did request a trade to either the saints or the dockers, how could we make it work for us ?

Push for a 1st round pick  ?  or would we want a established player ?

Frem - Adam Cerra, Darcy Tucker, Matt Taberner , Sam Sturt ( apparently we were quite keen to draft him)

Stk - Ben Long, Jack Sinclair, maybe Jack Lonie ( not that keen on him to be honest - but could be a useful small forward )

what are peoples thoughts ?

Saints fans every year claim to be signing 700 players from other clubs. Until last year they were as successful as Norf, and it took offering overs to get most of them.

Yep, Williams & Cameron are RFAs. Cameron deal may mean GWS are banking on Williams going elsewhere as they won’t have the cash to compete.

If Cameron takes the money elsewhere, then they can pay Williams.

Will be a few clubs throwing money at Williams and we should be one of them.

Unless of course someone throws a tonne of cash at Viney & he chooses to leave, thereby netting us a first round compo pick! Might try and manufacture a trade in that scenario.

Dare I say it we could pick up Watts for free.  I know he is damaged goods but he has the outside polish we need.

Bennell is our Watts now, but unlike Jack, can win football in the midfield.

Fritsch plays Jack's role nowadays.

We can't afford not to be active in the trade period.  Beating the 2 worst teams in the comp  the last 2 weeks doesn't cloud my judgment on what is a list that lacks speed, skills and good decision makers. We need about 5 zac butter types.

Our overall skills and decision making has been disgusting for 18 months. This must be addressed.

I think we still need another key tall to support Weideman & Jackson. I’m not sure if T Mac has many tickets left, and we need a mature body up front. Maybe that’s Wright, maybe it’s Daniher. No doubt we’d ask the question of Cameron’s management, but just can’t see that happening. Our best bet is someone that needs a change of scenery.

A pacy ball user is always on the wish list, but they aren’t falling out of trees. Williams probably the best option available.

Trade future first round draft pick, Preuss, Vandenberg, and Harmes for Papley

You forgot to give us our best 22 for 2021 with Papley in the squad

He would be an awesome recruit.  With the compromised draft coming up the Swans would prefer a first rounder next year I reckon which works in our favour. Being Melbourne they could just gamble on us being bottom 4.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
