Joe Daniher

Well given the way Victoria / Melbourne is going with Covid he could play for us and still be located out of Melbourne.

I certainly think he his worth looking at but hey anyone with talent needs to be looked at.

Didn’t he want to leave melb the city bubble and why he was trying to get to the swans.

Was only the public narrative.  There's apparently a fracturing between Daniher and the fitness dept and a bit of a blame game being played over the management (or otherwise) of his injury. JD has reportedly moved out of Melbourne & commutes in from the country, so maybe a little in the 'getting out of the limelight' angle, but still manageable. I don't think Sydney is really an option anymore given the number of injured tall forwards they already have.

I can understand the folks that don't want him, I'm all for asking the question. When fit (the crucial element for mine), Daniher's numbers are comparable with gun key forwards in his peer group (Lynch, Cameron, Hogan) and we desperately need a quality key forward. Our forward line is bereft at the moment. It would have been great to have kept pick 6 & selected Ben King in '18, but the list is what it is at this point.

His fitness issues are where we could.offer a strong point of difference, particularly if Bennell settles in and performs without setbacks  over the course of the season. If Burgess thinks Daniher's injury issue are recoverable, then it'd be irresponsible not to investigate. Burgess probably would be critical in the recruitment process tbh. Another selling point would be the number of familiar faces currently at the club (although none are probably all that popular with the fan base rn).

The other player i'd try and hit up from the Don's at the moment is Saad. There's some back and forth around the contract discussions and would absolutely fill a need for us.  If we were able to add those two and integrate into the line up, we would have a very different look and arguably be much better equipped to play the style Goody wants to employ.

If only we could develop our own talent, we wouldn’t have to consider Daniher.

Develop and keep.

I'm very concerned about what is happening with our development of young talent at the moment.

Petracca aside, a lot of players have stagnated.

great journalism. whoever wrote that headline should be sacked, but will probably win an award.

Or they'll take credit as giving Melbourne the idea if they do it.

Anyway my opinion FWIW if Burgess feels he can get him out on the park, fit and firing, then I'd be up for it. We lack tall marking options up forward (or at least we aren't playing any ?) and on his day he murdered teams, we were one of them unfortunately. Plus it'll be kinda nice to have a Daniher in the Red and Blue for Neale to support.

All this is predicated on the idea that firstly Burgess is able to get him right, and secondly that he'd even want to come to our rabble of a club.

I’d put all my money and trade initiative in more outside run and skill. Isn’t Josh Kelly coming out of contract? The GWS were going to have more salary cap issues right?

What other Talent is out there ? Swap Gaff for Brayshaw ?

Kelly is OOC end of 2021 but his contract has some odd trigger clause that could extend it by 5 or 6 years or something.

Matthew Egan - Head of Development

Max Rooke - Development coach

These two have been around for several years now with not much to show for it

Weid is lucky to get picked on the bench in the two's and posters on Demonland are seriously suggesting we shouldn't consider Daniher?

How is this so when you think back to how good he was in both finals, not only taking marks and kicking straight, he had second efforts chasing and tackling, can't loose that talent overnight. I really think his got in Goodwins bad books for some reason?

Remember all those articles 4-5 years ago wondering if Daniher, Hogan, Boyd or Patton would be the best gun 600 goal forward??

wow, time has not been kind.

3 years injured for a 200cm bloke?  unlikely he can come back in any real way. as much as I hate the bombers I feel for Joe.

Essendon are a horrible club to deal with when it comes to trades. They would want the earth.

Yep.  You can just see it now - Bombers asking for at least a first rounder for a bloke who can't get on the park.

If he came for a fair price you might consider the risk involved, although their idea of a fair price would be vastly different to everyone else.

Edit - although I believe he is a free agent, or at least a restricted one, at the end of the year so you wouldn't have to deal with Essendon.

There's a contract embargo on all AFL players and coaches so...  How about we make GF, Indiana, an offer she can't refuse !?....

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
