Shiiit what a borefest...

Our boys haven't turned up.

I've taken to counting the number of consecutive effective disposals in a row we can do. (<2m Handballs don't count)

Best I saw in first quarter were two consecutive kicks to a team mate.

Try it, it distracts you from the horror of it all and watching this club destroy talented youngsters careers over and over again.

Clearly we are a tall option short today -  time and time again goody proves he can’t pick the right team.

We haven’t been bad on the ground but when the ball is in the air we are uncompetitive.

Fritz just shouldn’t be dropping that mark at this level. If he takes that and converts we’d be a goal behind which would be reflective of the game.

Hey Goody, you have potentially the best rover in the AFL in the forward line. I will leave it to work out who, but, think Jimmy Krakoeur. Move out some of the flat foot four.l

Nothing wrong with the defensive effort. Lacking any dare and clean take aways, May this be the last game without a second tall and can our first one please find something that resembles form.

I believe 1987 was the last time Tom McDonald took a mark or kicked a goal.
Why they refuse to play Weid is beyond me. How is he a worst option than playing no forwardline.

We have the worst forward line In the league comfortably. No marking targets. Our list management decisions in throwing the bank at defenders has cost us a chance to have a run at the flag. Unless we can find a trade target in the off season this list build has been a waste of time.

North will be planning who they want with pick 1. May was a huge mistake, not to mention Lever. Overpaid duds.

Absolutely agree. Who owns those decisions. May is the laziest footballer and Lever has no impact whatsoever. It has assigned us to another rebuild.

TMac has broken Stewarts collarbone

Tom Stewart done for the day with a broken collarbone apparently.

We'll see if that makes a difference to our forward line.

Yes and yes

Stewart done for the day.

How we going with Inside50 stat? That's the one that counts, that's the one that indicates 'potential'.

Thought the umps were fine. If Fritsch could take a chest mark and Kozzie could convert a soda we’d be about level. Cats just took their very few chances. We didn’t.

Dangers 50 was soft.
AVB kicked the ball (looked bad but did connect)

their short kicks didn’t go over the ‘grass lines’ but were paid 15m

Kossie stopped play but was still called play on.

yeah they were fine.

Tom Stewart down. Our forward line needs every bit of help it can get.

Brayshaw's kick inside 50 is classic Melbourne. Has plenty of time, but either the forwards don't lead to the right spot or the kick is poor, or both, and we can't make the most of the clearance.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
