Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Why TF do we play 2 games in cairns.

FMD wouldn’t it be a better option if Brisbane and Gold Coast played up there and try to increase their market share.

The AFL REALLY KNOW HOW TO F... us over.

The positive is we only meet one team that comes off a longer break than us - Freo has 5 days v our 4 into that match.

All other games we either have the same break (Syd 5 v 5) or a longer break (Bulldogs 7 v 6), (Saints 7 v 6) and (GWS 5 v 4)

Playing round 17 on Saturday you would think a 5 day break is a short as it will be for the round 18 match.

If we stay fit cant see us losing one from here haha

Perspective is a wonderful thing, only one of those warmer climate games is during the day. I do think the Ess game is going to be a tough one.

Meanwhile Brisbane have not left the state since round 1and the furthest they've travelled is an hour to Metricon.

They'll be filthy they have to fly to Cairns for 1 match.

The boys will be chuffed, think of all the frequent flyer points they are accumulating, they can use them to go to Bali on the end of season trip! Winners!

WINNERS

  • Port Adelaide: No short breaks and pretty easy opponents sets them up perfectly to finish on top of the ladder.
  • Richmond: They avoid playing in WA at all this year, and have longer breaks heading into showdowns with the Eagles and Cats than their opponents.
  • Hawthorn: The easiest remaining draw including four home games which could still be moved to Tasmania if they open their borders.

LOSERS

  • West Coast: Five games in 19 days, including two four-day breaks heading into their toughest games against Richmond and St Kilda.
  • Essendon: They face three flag contenders in 11 days, plus their rescheduled game with Melbourne in Round 18, who’ll likely be playing for a spot in the eight.
  • Sydney: They have games left against the teams currently 1st, 2nd and 3rd on the ladder.

About time Ess had a tough run.  They have been blessed with little travel.  Ditto Saints and Richmond.

Here are some preliminary thoughts I have:

  1. Collingwood doesn't leave the Gabba until the final game, in which they are the home team, so feasibly won't leave the Gabba for the rest of the season;
  2. St Kilda play every game except one at the Gabba/Metricon from Rounds 9-17 (and as they are the home side in Round 18, are likely to stay in Queensland for that game). Over the same period we play games at Alice Springs, Cairns and Adelaide, in addition to Gabba/Metricon.

Clearly PIES AND SAINTS are also given preferred treatment.  Not the Dees. We are the kings of travel in 2020

West Coast have to leave home.....  what a shame

I hope they schedule the GF in Perth and WC don't make it.

If MFC happen to somehow win the flag and we can't go, I hope it's in Perth so their supporters bear witness.

Did I mention I hate West Coast?

Total number of venues played at to Round 17 (it's possible some clubs may see this tally increase by 1 for their Round 18 game, or in the case of Hawthorn/North if they get home games shifted down to Tasmania):

  • West Coast - 3
  • St Kilda - 5

Perspective

One was bad luck (Eagles in the first round)

The second is our fault in that we need the NT money and thus Alice Springs

Imagine if we'd had to go to Tasmania !!

At 7 venues we're in the mix.

There is no doubt that Saints were favoured simply because for a while they were good for the media narrative.

2021 likely to be be a strange season as well

If I was her, I would be prepared to pay quite a bit, as long as it's played in October. Queensland's State election is being held on 31 October.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
