So, just to confirm, if we had the opportunity to beat Essendon tomorrow, we would be in front of Richmond, West Coast, Geelong, GWS and the Dogs.

Each of those sides has had a shock loss to an ostensibly worse side (Richmond to Hawthorn, WC to GC, Geelong to Carlton, GWS to North, the Dogs to St Kilda).

This season is clearly ridiculous.

And, I'm not suggesting we're any good, but our only loss so far is West Coast in Perth. We also beat the side which just beat Geelong in Geelong.

Carlton look really good with three tall forwards.

No idea why we didn’t replace Jackson with Weideman, we need more tall targets.

Meanwhile West Coast go in with their tall forward line and can't take a mark.

Carlton's tall forwards last week didn't exactly set the world on fire, either.

(Having said that, I'm also surprised we planned to go into tomorrow with just TMac. Possibly horses for courses because Essendon is small and fast).

A big issue for the eagles is key to their success is darling and Kennedy but they are playing all their first four games at night at the gabba. It is notoriously slippery at night up there. Particularly after half time. Very, very hard to mark.

We could be too fresh after one game in how many months? I hope tomorrow’s Intra Club at the MCG is full on. I don’t want manic tackling but it should go the full time to test their fitness and make it clear performances will count.

How good are the Dees!?  We knock off Carlton on their home ground, then they beat the Cats at their dung-heap!
But Hawthorn and Carlton don’t know what it’s like with 30000 Cats fans pumping up the players, and influencing the umps.

Essendon and Collingwood don’t know either.

See the conditions West Coast played in?

West coast are losing because Simpson is crying about being in a hub,  they see their coach  sooking it,  it's spreading through the team, they are all sooking it up, coach must be a pillar of strength not weakness.

What if it's multiple factors...

Its open season for sure now with the flag. Just about anyone can win it.

Though after watching Collingwood they just simply look a class above everyone else.

Kennedy and Darling from West Coast are cooked btw.

They are playing with no effort, the players are disinterested, watched the game weak effort everywhere, after the loss against suns, the coach chose to sook instead of firing up his team.

I dunno. Is there only 2 options: 0% and 100% effort? I think they could've applied more effort, but I don't think theyre in the game within 3 goals with 10min to go, if there is No Effort.

Just multiple factors that prove insurmountable for em. Weather, Lions, not enough Effort from 5-10 players, missing mcgovern, away game, sooking over hubs etc. Are you discrediting Brisbane? Lachie Neale , Cam Rainer, Hugh McClugg, Harrison Andrews, Berry. All were firing, maybe Brisbane just hit their straps last night. I liked their game. And it proved they'll be in the 4-8 range for me.

Edit- The "line in the sand news" about wce refusing more games in the hub r4-6  put a smile on my face though ?

Not discrediting Brisbane, but losing to the suns, Brisbane never got out of 3nd gear, they don't want to be there, and it starts with the coach, saying we will play anywhere anytime. Simpson a weak sook.

Did Simpson run over your cat?

Why has the freo game been changed to 8pm tonight??

They are moving things around to maximise TV coverage thanks to the whacky antics of COVID McKenna.

Well they maximised it where I live to the extent there is no match on TV.  Probably no loss anyway.

Both matches are at Metricon . They need to give all facilities a thorough clean before the next 2 teams enter the ground.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
