I think he'll poll, but not at the top.  Generally it takes a year or so for the Umpires to catch up.  Lachie Neale had a huge season last year, and now he's no doubt well ahead in the voting.  Next year we can expect Petracca to get some love.

He’s my 5 year old’s fave too

got on him at 50s

Believe it or not he was 501/1 before the 1st practice match back in March.

I can believe it, I just need to look at my ticket at those odds ??

I remember a couple years ago at the QB game watching De Goey tear us apart outta the middle blasting into space with power and speed and thinking that that was what Petracca lacked.

Well .... Now he's doing just that but with more skill.
Confidence is sky high and I now think we're watching a genuine Thoopastar just starting to hit his straps.
For anyone with kids who has watched Kung Fu Panda it's like when it finally dawns on Po that he is infact .......
The Dragon Warrior.
Gonna be awesome to watch over the next X amount of years.

Brownlow or not .... I really don't care but the umpires won't miss him.

At this rate Petracca et all will be taking votes off each other.

Sometimes it is easier to win a Brownlow in an average team without many stars to steal votes.  Recent winners tell the story.

All the recent dynasties with stacked midfields have had Brownlow winners. Bartel, Ablett, black, aker, Mitchell etc

Leigh Matthews had Petracca BOG, whereas Herald Sun has Langdon, Oliver & Brayshaw in the votes, very even spread for this game, tough to predict

Lions is probably the only dynasty that have a lot of brownlows.   Ablett won a brownlow with the Suns and Hawks weren't a dynasty club when Mitchell won.

Most recent brownlow winners are:

  • Fyfe
  • Mitchell
  • Martin
  • Dangerfield
  • Fyfe
  • Priddis
  • Ablett (Suns)

Only two of their teams finished top 4 in the year they won.  Add in the year Judd won at Carlton and you see my point about ometimes it is easier to win a Brownlow in an average team without many stars to steal votes.

I hope that Petracca does go all the way but expect other demons to poll well.

Petracca should get votes again for the Pies game.  It depends on whether it’s him or Oliver with the 3 votes.

Gil mc will of course build up the tension as Trac and Oliver get votes

“ Melbourne. C ... “. (Petracca or Oliver)

Mate, you’ve left out Bartel winning it for Geelong in 2007 and Ablett winning his first Brownlow at the cats in 09. And I also forgot to add in both Judd and Cousins at west coast (2004 and 2005 respectively) playing in the same midfield.

I wouldn't have had petracca I'm the votes myself.

3: langdon

2: Brayshaw

1: Oliver

The flashy spins and take away from contests usually stick in the umps eyes over Oliver’s handballing in close, but of late Clarry has also been kicking long and running with it. Trac and Clarry were best for mine but I’m also bias as I have Trac to win the brownlow at 501/1 ?

Can’t see many at the Lions taking BOGs off Neale. I reckon he’ll win win based on this.
gawn has a couple of BOGs and clarry too, and viney one Perhaps

not that I think Neale deserves it over Trac

Neale wins this unless suspension. Even an injury might not be enough to take it from him.

I just checked, BetEasy is offering me nearly 7x my initial investment, to cash out on petracca now on one of my bets and over 3 times on the other.  That must mean he’s still in with a red hot chance.

Very tempting to cash out early... I agree it could be Neales

Cash out for sure.

Neale will win it, the mindless umps just give it to who gets the most possessions no matter what impact they have - see Priddis, Mitchell

I wouldn’t cash out, ride it out unless you have a heap on it.

If Neale gets rubbed out, then he is in with a great chance. Even if not, if Trac plays well in the next few the cash out goes up.

Shane Crawford just came out and said that he believes Petracca is currently the best player in the league.

Crawford went early and now is now looking like a genius. Well done Crawf.

Another likely 3 votes for Trac last night (cant see the umps giving 3 to May).  Watch out Lachie Neale, you aren't safe just yet!

We've had a few losses that often means no votes for losing sides. Neale will have polled more thanks to more wins.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
