Melbourne self reported.

melbourne did a gutnik? does that mean some informer initially dobbed them in to the mfc?

just trying to understand

Well NRL fans should have one more game of kissing and hugging that they do before all their tests come up positive and that will be the finish of their season.

At least our blokes aren't the vice captain of their Club and they also have friends to visit.

Self reported apparently.

I am sure the Coach is in a good mood about it.

Most players are not Einsteins, unfortunately they are not even Pavlovian Dogs.

yes, but people who self-report generally do it for a reason (other than the transgression)

essendon "self-reporting" ring a bell?

I'm sure I saw two Richmond players doing a high 5 after one of their early goals.

I think this should be investigated and the players rubbed out.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt this time, but any player that does it from next week on wards, will not receive any further sympathy from me.

i wonder what will happen when someone self reports for an incident and they have subsequently played a game

does club forfeit match points?   can get quite messy

no problem for afl though....experts at making up rules on the run

Dumb as horse crap. If they do not like any of the AFL's rules then go and play tiddly winks. Don't nominate for the draft, don't bother with AFL at any level. The club should come down hard on them. I don't agree with lots of rules but would play by the rules for the rewards now offered.

I wouldn't be surprised if every such case that has occurred came to light, the AFL would be down to the 16 a side some are proposing pretty damn quick.

Considering that the potential consequences of breaking iso rules should now be burned deep into the frontal lobe of every AFL player their actions are beyond stupid and really disappointing. As good a talent that Kozzie might be there is now a little part of me that hopes his replacement this week has a blinder and keeps his place for the following week.

Just great our most exciting prospect in years gets suspended. We have no one in the emergencies that can cover him. I too hope Bedford gets a game as a result.

We have no one in the team that can cover him.

(Which is why we went so hard on drafting him in the first place.)

sounds inevitable, but have afl handed down punishment yet?

Has to isolate for 2 weeks with a certain track watcher.

Carlton fan Andy Maher insisting that Pickett be suspended.

Anyone know how they broke the restrictions?

At a guess,  Maher shook Pickett's hand,  on being selected.?

Its a strange thing when AFL players have to keep stricter rules than the rest of society. I just picked up daughter from her train trip home, we then went to the IGA to stock up for tonight's game, joining several other people who were doing the same... all legal I believe!

This is elite level stupidity!!!

Given recent suspensions and the club instructions they must surely receive- it just beggars belief

I am lost for words ........,,

Did anyone else breathe a massive sigh of relief that one of the players was Spargo?

I did, even though I like Spargo and haven't given up on him.

My MFCSS had already kicked in and assumed player 2 was Bennell.  That emotional ride would have been too much.

In fact, I had developed second-stage MFCSS within five minutes, imagining Bennell being devastated to miss his 're-debut', going out drinking, and doing his calf trying to run from a booze bus.  Totally implausible, pure MFCSS at its finest.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
