Take Oli out of the ruck and put Brayshaw into the spot.

Play Brayshaw into form,  and see which way we go from there.  See what works best for us.

Keep Viney inside the mids.  And bring some other players thru the midfield to try them out,  one at a time.

Time to send the kids back,  and bring Chunk in,  and maybe JJordan.

MUch to some people's joy , it seems it is too late to trade Angus Brayshaw. He has gone already (that is probably why he was "missing"(according to some people yesterday. He was busy poling votes for Dockers in their win against Crows ( The Age). Do not know how he got back to MCG so quickly from Adelaide.

Delete Jones, Jetta, Hibberd, Kolodshnij, Sparrow, C.Wagner, J.Wagner, Neitsche, Preuss, Viney and Brayshaw. Keep Weid , no Daniher. Play Smith and May forward. Develop players like Baker,O'Mac etc.  Promote Bradkte .Getting rid of Hunt would be like us getting rid of Kent who is playing well for the saints.

I have a vibe on a couple of exits at seasons end, be them driven by the club, player or both.

I can see both Macdonalds but more than likely Tom move on at seasons end. There seems to be very little joy for him in the act of playing at the moment, and pragmatically contributes a little to how the team plays.

I also see parallels  between Brayshaw and Chip Frawley, both essentially being played out of position for the entire year before exiting the club. For me, Chip was never going to be a forward and presumably the logic was to get 20 odd games into a defensive unit without him.

Not dissimilar to Brayshaw not 'really' being part of the midfield mix going forward, and that being tested out during this season.

I think Joel Smith will look elsewhere.  Kangas? Swap for ?? Mason Wood??   My option for a swap is young 21yo Tom Murphy.  Murphy would be a good replacement as a mid size rebound defender and can assume a Hibberd style role.  His skills and intensity are good. Not quite cracking a game for Kangas.

DELIST

Hunt

Hannan

OMac

Smith

CWagner

JWagner

RETIRE
Jones

Kolodjashnij

TRADE/Never play in the seniors again

ANB

vandenberg

Baker (poor mans hunt)

Brayshaw - has currency (hello freo) and allows changes to our 1 dimensional midfield

TARGETS

Zac Williams -FA desperately need run and kicking

Witherden - couldn't crack brisbane's side until recently has elite disposal

2 metre Peter Wright - also cant get a game and could be an elite goal square player for us

Cockatoo - we've fixed Bennell why couldn't we do the same here, elite pressure forward when fit

Cedric Cox - cant crack a brisbane side too but has potential as a small forward would come cheaply

Cumming - looked the goods pre season at GWS lots of competition for places they probably let him walk

Papley - probably too expensive

2021 List

Key Defenders: May, Lever, Hore, Petty, T McDonald

Rivers has the Hibbered role sewn up.

If he can't quite crack it at North Melbourne then why on earth would we target him? Last bloke we targeted that couldn't get at gig at North Melbourne is currently with us who also is struggling to crack in our ones also.

Looking at his stats he last played against St Kilda back in round one and had 7 disposals 0 marks and 2 tackles from 80% game time.

No more list cloggers thanks.

I've noticed that Salem does not have the extra space and time that he was allowed in previous years. Opposition coaches are making an impact.

obviously not all on the trade / release will leave - for instance if you trade brayshaw (likeliest option) then you'd ideally keep harmes and viney; the former would be unlikely to leave having just signed a new five year (!!) deal earlier this year, and now of course - as per most mfc players - his form line has flatlined

fritsch is out of contract and still hasn't signed a new one; would another club be interested in him and be prepared to pay 'overs'?

luke jackson will, undoubtedly, have the proverbial truck backed up to him by meth coke and freo over the next few years - could one of them come with an offer too good to refuse at the end of this season?

im anti trading Viney.. he ha smore competitive spirit in his little finget than some on our list. I see a lot of people saying you wont get much for Angus Brayshaw.. i think clubs will pay for him. Cartlon would absolutely love him, another inside body to compliment Cripps..

I watched the Semi against Geelong last night.. the difference in the way we are playing is so stark and there are 4 main people who the flow on affect has been huge:

Tom Mc - not a shadow of his shadow

Brayshaw - no longer a threat anywhere

Jetta - sadly father time has called

Melksham - Not getting enough out of him as a senior player

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
