I wish they'd increase the volume on the fake crowd and drown out the commentators.  I've watched a lot of old matches recently and the quality of commentating was so much better.

People say the world started turning to [censored] when Bowie died, but I think it was Dennis Cometti’s retirement that got those wheels turning.

“You need a tracker to track him” - Wayne Carey

That was a dire half of footy, and from 2 of the top 4 sides in the comp no less.

Sidebottom is an out and out superstar!

18 possessions in two shortened quarters........outstanding

Pendlebury is better than he’s ever been tonight. Skills of majority of players in the game are better than they’ve ever been. Fitness as well.

AFL as a spectacle is terrible at present.

Definitely needs at least another 10 rule changes.

Picked the Pies by 3 points but the game is just not fun to watch, I am not sure why. At least it’s close ;)

It has been for a while.

It's radical, but I don't mind the idea of zones to stop 36 players just following the ball around.

If Tigers win by under a goal the headline will be that video decision giving Higgins the shot.

How did they stuff that up? Clearly over the line on first viewing. Pathetic that commentators don't speak up.

BT did and said it was wrong and Carey sought of agreed with him.

Don't like the shortened quarters.

...but then again, I'm not liking the game all that much.

No atmosphere, No energy. Nobodies fault but it is a fact

Boo to short quarters and low scoring games. Hooray to a draw. A loss for both sides.

Other than one decent mark by ?? and Sidebottom's first half that game was forgettable.

Let's remember the AFL picked it.

Collingwood unlucky to lose/draw

watching post match, should the MCG invest in some better chairs for the players? They are loaded! Out with Bunnings white plastic chairs and in with some luxury style leather chairs

Yawn.

Pies zone defence. They stopped Tigers run.  But you need to score!!!

Riewoldt? Rioli? Did they play?? Absolutely missing all night.

Then Reiwoldt with a shot 30 out fails to score.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons are back on the road again and this may be the last roll of the dice to get their 2025 season back on track as they take on the Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
