Remember Sid Catlin? This is from Demonwiki...

Catlin started 1966 in the Fourths but by Round 14 he was coming off the bench in the last quarter at the MCG as the second youngest known MFC Player at 16 years, 218 days old on debut

After winning five kicks in the last five minutes of his debut Catlin was promoted to first rover for his second and kicked 1.8. He played just one more game for the year and missed all of 1967 after suffering a knee injury in an early season reserves match before returning for a solitary game in 1968. He was again troubled by injury that year.

In 1969 Catlin followed Norm Smith to South Melbourne and played fifteen games over two seasons. In 1970 he finished third in the Gardiner Medal for best player in the Reserves competition but left the Swans at the end of the year.

Year Games Goals Brownlow
1966 3 1 2
1968 1 0

He was on Coodabeebs last year. Part of Norm Smith's 1966 massive list regeneration.

One of THE great half back lines in the game's history: Anderson, Roet, Leahy.

Should have been the premiership HB line but Leahy was injured and replaced by Frank Davis, a future captain.

Tony Anderson nearly caught Gabbo in the goal square.

Unbelievable. Yes it still haunts me. We were keen on Tom Lynch (Suns/Tigers) but suns grabbed him at pick 11. Prendergast must have been rattled to pick Cook who was expected to be around 30-40 mark.  I was keen to pick Jack Darling or Matthew Watson.  Darling was the slider who somehow went around mid 20s by the Eagles. I recall the word was he wanted to stay in the west. Ridiculous.

Glenn Swan, 1973. Kicked eight goals in his fifth game but only played thirteen in total. Another coodabeen.

Derek Feldmann brother of Rick. Like his brother never kicked on but a solid defender in the dark days of the late 60s.

Ted Fidge was pretty tough and played some decent footy if I recall correctly.

He came from Bentleigh. Did he have a brother that played ?

Fidge never took a backward step.

I remember hearing a story years ago. Don’t know if it’s true or not but the Fidge brothers were going to a fancy dress party. Dressed up as Batman and Robin. Stopped at a drive through bottleshop on the way and ended up in a punch on with another group of blokes in the drive through dressed as Batman and Robin.

Terry didn't have "CoCo's ability, but he was tall enough to ruck.

I remember once when he picked up the ball a metre from goal, directly in front, rushed the kick needlessly ,  and missed the ball with his foot. It dribbled through for a point.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
