big game for Weideman, who never seems to be a consistent showing week to week.

I must say Omac seems to play way more games then what he offers. even with May and Lever in he's selected.

Strange... a couple of years ago players were rested/rotated you name it during this part of the season.

Yes, but in those days there were 3 "official" pre-season matches, not 2.

(from what I remember ...)

Omac will take Patton, allowing Lever and May to play their roles ,not sure which bit the experts don't get on here. The coaching staff have faith in Omac, a young defender still learning his craft

Will be interesting to watch how we use the bench to manage minutes or whether we will play 22 and the other 4 are purely to sub on an as needs basis.

Would imagine that Gawn will only play a half. Perhaps similar for others, such as Jetta, having played last week, and Brown (also played against North).

Could be wrong.

Strong line-up.
Shame not to see Sparrow and Pickett, but very glad to see that Lockhart isn't carrying an injury after training.

As do I.

Any thoughts why Rivers hasn't been given a go. Going to ruin my supercoach backline

Know where you are coming from, he looked pretty good against North to me.  Still plenty of time for him to develop his game and confidence at Casey for a call-up later in the season.

Saty nothing against Omac but look at the Hawks  team and give me your view on who are the other two tall forwards Lever and May play on. I know May is versatile but I feel we will get chopped up at ground level.

Good point, Goodwin might be saving a rookie downgrade for us. Maybe he plays supercoach?

All of Lever, May and Oscar would all be reasonably mobile talls at ground level wouldn't they?

I would have Sparrow in the side.

Agree

Who Hawthorn go with doesn’t really matter. The Eagles are likely to have Kennedy, Darling and a resting ruck (Vardy or Hickey).

Unless we think Hibberd or Hore can go to a ruckman (and concede 10cm) or Darling we have to play 3 big talls in round 1.

Not really

he earns his spot v Crows Yes he failed to grab 3or 4 field marks but his handball was accurate and quick to other mids.

Like tmac said in the commentary box his role is to be the last line of defence. Move across and back as required to force the opposition to consider the  kick inside 50. Said rhe work he does is hard to see.

As you say he will also take the opposition big in a man on man, almost traditional full back role allowing may and lever to intercept and be attacking defenders.

A very specific role that means he will not get many disposals or kudos for that matter. Lots of one percenters and not much razzle dazzle.

Key is he plays the role coach asks him to the letter. I sudpect unlike frost.

no. Omac is not. sorry but I just don't see in him. I know he's young but he's not a rookie anymore. he's reactive and if he does get it hes very slow.

A good strong team and pretty much the one that I believe will be our Round 1 team.

The only doubt I have is ANB. Bedford or Pickett in for him and then have the interchange as Brayshaw, Vandenberg, Brown and Salem.

Interesting that hunt isn’t in the side?

Not really. He did next to nothing laat week.

Really glad to have our whole top on ball brigade on the park, looking fit with a good oppertunity to build some early cohesion and confidence.

Also really interested to see how Bedford goes as he was looking really quite sharp and ready to play senior footy in last week's scratch match against North.

After watching specifically him in the first half of the North, I thought his pressure and intensity was ok, but every time he got the ball in any space and kicked it he completely butchered and shanked it.

Gotta say that I have liked this format of two real scratch match style games and two slightly more serious hit outs.

Unless there's a turnaround, may have seen his last match for the Dees.
