 Ohh Rubbish, it was a fair hit and it was good to see a decent bump back in our game. If Viney had done the exact same thing you'd be on your knees bowing to him saying what perfection it was.

Want to see more of this in our game.

As a supporter group and football department historically we really treat out captains poorly. Actually makes me quite angry. The captains sacrifice so much of their time for the club on and off the field taking them away from partners and family. Jack is getting back from a serious foot injury its got nothing to do with his ability. He could easily play defence, attacking or defensive mid, forward pressure role. But he has the ability to lead by example and drag the team along as he did in the 2018 finals against Geel and Hawt while still carrying an injury. To win finals you need players with aggression at the player as well as the ball

Sorry wasn't clear enough, what I'm saying is: more often than not Viney, Oliver and Brayshaw are the contested ball winners out of the congestion. They feed the likes of Harmes, Petracca and Melksham in space who deliver the ball into F50 under less pressure and therefore more accurately. When Viney, Oliver and Brayshaw cannot find that outlet they are forced to take lower percentage options into the dysfunctional forward line and the delivery and therefore retention suffered. The additions of Langdon and Tomlinson will help this season in providing more/better options.

I'm not sure what makes you think that in the second half of the year, where we won less games than the first, we suddenly drastically improved our inside 50 kicking. Not sure how many more facts and sources I can provide before you get it, or if you're just being deliberately obtuse now.

I didn't assume that at all (I'll leave that up to you). You and I don't  know what the stats were for the second half of the season so it's difficult to know if a certain player (JV) has tried to remedy his problem or even got worse.

Jack was never particularly quick. Jack was never an amazing kick. Jack is a competitor, he has a drive that others lack he is fierce at the contest.  Leadership may not be his strong suit, but i saw him lead unbelievably in out 2 finals wins coming off little prep and game time. No disrespect to Simon for starting this discussion, but I can't believe we are giving time and air to this negative article by Cameron Rose who calls himself an expert and even says himself he will argue with anyone who doesn't agree with him. I had to look up this Roar to see where this opinion piece came from, having never read this AFL site. He's a Richmond supporter. I think we can ignore his opinions now.

They forget how important he is when fit and the impact he has.

No more important player in the 2018 finals who stood up when needed.

He's played that way bleeding for the jumper since Round 1, 2013

I anticipate if the clear run he's had this pre season continues he will prove a lot of people wrong.

Jack is finally fit again and had a good pre season so lets all hope for a bounce back to the old Jack this year.

Foot injuries take alot of time to get over particularly for a hard running mid fielder who needs to cover ground and get to as many contests as Jack does to have an impact.

Agreed.  He is fitter, leaner and hopefully injury free.  With a few others around him, who had injury interrupted preseasons last year and who will also be fitter this year, Viney's bullocking work will be rewarded, as we will have more outside run than in recent years

He was injured most of the time in 2018 as well, he wasn't fit last year and that can have an effect on disposal. If me saying" you like to repeat yourself" is confrontational then next time I post to you I will include kisses.XXXX

Jesus some on here have short memories. Viney brings the type of hardness that we were begging for during our decade in the wilderness. 

Is he a complete midfielder? Of course not, but very, very few players are. Is a fit Jack Viney a key member of our best 22? Absolutely, and to suggest that he won't be in the near future is utter crazy talk. He's not a great kick, but neither is Dangerfield and he goes alright.

Viney's lateral movement is actually pretty good IMO. Check out the second passage of play from the 2018 semi. Also note who made the desperate futile chase to pressure Gunston's kick in the next passage. Successful finals teams are built around players like Viney.

Treacle slow and no lateral movement hmmm...don’t agree with this. Our minds do play tricks on us sometimes so I went back and watched a lot of highlights from some our wins in the last few years including some of Jack’s.

There was one passage of play amongst many where he gave Shiel (GWS at the time) severe windburn.

l’m hoping all this stuff helps  motivate Jack.

Personally l think if his body is right, he can play very well. 

If l had a concern, which l don’t , it would only be about the state of his body.

Would love him to have a great season and l reckon he can.
